Everything is now getting bids, some significant, even desertgal's Vanderbilt Lakes condo. Only a couple are under $40,000 still.

The Bonita shores house is at $85,800, and the Rotonda golf course house is at $60,000.

1d 5h 9m 18s left, and the sniping will be interesting, but I will only be able to follow a couple or three, by opening them in different windows. I will try to make a point of following the Vanderbilt Lakes condo, the Bonita Shores house, and the Rotonda house.

Remember . . . there's still more than 900 properties owned by fannie mae in Lee County, and that is only one foreclosure owner.

The cream's coming to the top. The San Carlos condo is up to $165K.

          But, there are still bargains.

          1 more day.

            No sniping.

The Rotonda Golf Course House went for $60K.

The Vanderbilt Lakes condo went for $81K

The Bonita Shores house went for $85. At the end of the auction, it went to a 2 minute extension, then disappeared during that extension.

Those seem like very good prices, what do you think?

I just can't bring myself to bid on something "sight unseen". Maybe we'll take another trip down there next month. We need to decide on an area first.

The San Carlos (really beachey) condo went for $162,000.

60s's good on the Rotonda house. 80's good on the other two. High enough to be accepted, probably.

                Yeah, you should look.

The last two months of auctions have really whittled down listings. Homepath is only fannie mae listings, so you need to find where others are listed.

Feel free to run any by me by PM.

We had a little flurry onn ours yesterday, the seller's agent anxious to get it closed. The lender called me to talk things over, and satisfied some questions we had.

We got the GFE yesterday and some items seemed high. I googled some questions and the first hit was a S. Florida title company. I called and talked to a very nice and helpful lady who does homepath closings. I went over everything with her and she said it is all exactly what it should be.

Also, she agreed that Florida has been it's own worst enemy in the foreclosure crisis . . . the high cost of property tax and insurance has exasperated the situation.

I/we own several vacant lots . . . a large lakefront building lot, a large building lot on a southern Missouri National Scenic Riverway, one at a rural lake development near Kansas City . . . a couple of them actually worth what those in Floridas appraise at . . . and property taxes on them range from five to twenty bucks. Why hundreds of thousands of people would pay $1000, or more, a year for junk lots in FL is beyond me?

As is why it takes $2 billion a year to run a rural FL county with a population of a couple hundred thousand. Talk about Big Government!!!

Homepath is pretty ho-hum for Estero and Bonita Springs right now, with things either pricey or under contract.

There is a lower-priced new listing condo in the infamous Golf Villas. Some here will relate to that.

Here is a Rotonda golf course/pool home that might nbe worth watching:

                    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...04801&t=h&z=18

There are also condos in Rotonda, lower priced:

                    • we pay 600 apiece on our two extra lots in Wisconsin, we paid more than that on a lot in Illinois we sold 15 years ago, we paid 800 plus for a lot in Spring Hll, but that has now gone down. i never heard of such low rates for property taxes as missouri.

I would put both our lakefront and riverfront lots at $50K-ish value. Taxes are $25 and $100.

Of course, our house and lot here is only $800. Cities are much higher.

Here we also pay personal property tax, which for us adds up. Vehicles, boats, jet skis, trailers, boat slips, boat lifts.

When we had a business we also paid county tax on our inventory and business equipment . . . business personal property tax.

&, also to be fair, with all this extra crap to insure, our insurance here has crept up, too.

                        • just visited my cousin who has rented from a friend on gulf Drive, Vanderbilt Beach Naples. she said the condo on that floor is going for $350,000 and there is one across the street for 3 and a half million. her condo gets 5000 a month rental. it didn't rent for january and her friend let her rent at a cheaper rate. she had rented it in December and left the sheets in a pile and her towels in the dryer. The clEANING CREW "CLEANED " IT AND sent the bill. When she arrived at the condo, there were her sheets and towels right where she left them, what a fraud.

The Vanderbilt Lakes condo is showing as Under Contract now, so $81K was accepted.

The Rotonda Golf House is not showing as Under Contract.

The Bonita Shores house is not homepath, so I can't tell.

                            • Wow!

I believe that 2nd Street house is eligible for membership in the Bonita Shores Club, an organization that has been around since that area was fur shur in the Boonies, 1956. Bonita Shores was started in 1953. For those familiar with that area, in 1953 Everglades City was the Collier County seat, if you can picture that!!!

Anyway, the Bonita Shores Club, officially the Bonita Shores & Little Hickory Shores Improvement Association, Inc., is a neighborhood civic organization that has among other things, a clubhouse/polling place, and a deeded boat ramp/access, for $200/year. It says the boat ramp is on 3rd, a block away from the house.

It appears that the Club is associated with entire area between Vanderbilt Road and Hickory Bay.

Wow!!! Holy Moly!!! A truly great deal if that house went for $80s.

Bonita Shores Club: About The Club

Shur nuf, if this link works, look at all the boats and jet skis lined up on 3rd. Wow!!! Paradise!!!

                              26.327095,-81.830893 - Google Maps

I'm also seeing a golf course in that area between Vanderbilt and Little Hickory Bay.

                              Wow!!!

If it didn't sell, someone should jump on it.

                              • Yup, here's another one in Bonita Shores, already under contract, and it mentions the boating club:
