On another Internet timeshare forum, an owner annnounced (unofficially) that all RCI external exchangers will be placed in the original, 25-plus year old, West Village at Orange Lake. The information page for Orange Lake at RCI has recently been changed to say that exchangers may not request particular areas and that upgrades are not available.
Because Orange Lake is the largest single-campus timeshare in the world, and because what they do affects so many people and so much in the world of timesharing, the past several years people have been taking note of the resort.
Most of the news has been good, but not all. Most report receiving excellent vacations and service, but, again, not all. With somewhere around 1000 families moving out and 1000 new families moving in each weekend, some seem to have fallen through the cracks. That can be verified through independent ratings services:

High on the list of complaints have been cleanliness, maintenance, and other items related to aging units.
I have been familiar with the resort for nearly 20 years, it being our first tour (four more since) and a place we have stayed at on RCI exchanges several times. We, personally, have never had a bad experience, but have been there and have talked to others who were.
Where exchangers get placed has been the single-most common topic of discussion, with some reporting requests being granted and some not.
I propose we keep a record. If you exchange into Orange Lake, let us know where you get placed. Let us know if it is an internal exchange, one made as an owner with an OL week, an external exchange through RCI as an owner (OL or other resort week), or a pure external exchange (Non-owner/non OL week).
Thanks
