  • Enchanted Isle Review, Hollywood Florida

I just spent two weeks at my little place in the sun and thought I'd update a bit on how things are in case anyone is interested in having a visit.

I spent the first week in unit 102 which is a 2 bedroom 2-1/2 bath beachfront unit and I do mean beachfront. No obstructions of your view in this unit. Just hop out the door and you are on the sand in 5 seconds.

Yeah, Enchanted isle is a converted motel from the 50's but it's charm is the beautiful Hollywood beach. It's not on the famous boardwalk but that's a plus, trust me.

This year finds that EI resort has put in flat screens in all the rooms, gotten a new couchbed in the living room which we didn't use, new beach chairs and the gas grills seemed to work better so I think they are new too. No more gas bottles but it's hooked up to real gas lines so you don't run out mid grill.

The pool wasn't as clean as it should have been but there were alot of kids this week and nobody showers before entering so lots of sand on the bottom. The water was really warm in the pool despite the heater not being on at all. The wi-fi was non-existent this week. Apparently the only one who knows how to reset it so it works is the manager and he just happened to be on vacation that week. It didn't work on my second week either but I didn't come for the wi-fi so I used my iphone to check emails, but it is a bit annoying since I did have to do some business and had to go home to do it. The staffs response to the lack of wi-fi was to go 2 miles down the road to the community center and use theirs. Well duh, I can go to Starbucks or McDonalds for that if I really wanted to go off property to use wi-fi. Anyway, you get an idea of how accomodating the staff was this year and there were other little incidents but I won't go into them.

A few of the staff members were a bit rude this year. I confronted two of them and they were nice once we got it all ironed out. Of course I'm sure they were just nice to my face, but I don't care as long as they don't give me attitude and ignore my requests. I did have to do a little education to a miss Lisa on how important it is that we don't get dinged in RCI for things that they can fix which affects our trading power and could potentially affect the life of the resort if owners start to bail. OMG I sound like JLB. She seemed clueless as to why her attitude would have anything to do with her job security.

Overall it was a good two weeks. Our second week was in unit 117 which is in the beachfront building facing the street. The unit is identical to unit 102 but a mirror image. That week was an exchange for 26 TPU's. Oh and just for curiosity, RCI was only offering 21 TPU's for that week on deposit. Regardless I already booked two weeks next year for 21 TPU's so maybe they fixed the adjustment.

I've only seen this resort in RCI. I guess somebody could deposit to the independents but I've yet to see a unit in any of them so if you want to go then you gotta have something in RCI or use a resortcerts.com/perks certificate for $249 for the week.

Sounds like another great stay - a few annoyances but I would rather be slightly annoyed at the beach then happy at home

Sorry about the wifi - I would have tethered/mobile hotspot with my iPhone ....verizon offers $20/month for 2G and they pro-rate fro the amount of days I use.

I have the app on my iphone but the cell service sucks in there too with all the hurricane windows and the thick concrete bunker walls.
It's okay, I survived. Going back Monday for a few days again. It's a farewell to my week that I am giving to my cousins.
      They are already checked in.
