  • Disneyworld Water Parks

Have you ever been to Blizzard Beach and/or Typhoon Lagoon? When were you there? Describe them? Would you go to that park again?

I overheard a conversation at Disney last week and that got me wondering about the water parks. I probably won't ever go to them, but wondered about others experiences.

    Thanks,
    Nancy

I went to Typhoon Lagoon in February a couple years ago. My son and I had fun there. Blizzard Beach was closed for repairs.

My favorite things at Typhoon Lagoon were the lazy river and the salt water snorkel. Water in the salt water snorkel was cold, but I went through it 3 times.
I tired of carrying jumbo tubes up the several flights of stairs and didn't go on 2 of the slides because of that. I think we went on everything else.

A Disney theme park is practically a different species compared to a "regular" theme/amusement park.

The water parks, while perfectly nice, are not quite as "different" as "regular" water parks. They are very lush, and well thought-out in terms of attraction placement and design, but with a few exceptions the slides and attractions are not particularly unusual. If you are a water park fan, you will probably like them. Blizzard has, generally speaking, better slides. Typhoon is, generally speaking more "unique" and more "Disney" in the sense that its theme is a bit better executed. For example, I think Shark Reef is worth the price of admission on its own.

Is one any better than the other for families with younger children?
