  • My Resignation from Cypress Pointe Resort Board

To all CPR owners and fellow TS4MS members,

At the last business meeting on 6 Dec 2014, I announced that I am selling my CPR timeshare unit, and therefore was resigning immediately, both as an officer and director of the CPR Association Board of Directors.

My wife and I had owned at CPR since 1997, visiting frequently when our children were in school, and using the resort for RCI exchanges after they went to college. We no longer had the need for our unit any longer, hence the end of an era for us. We still have our other timeshare in Myrtle Beach, SC that we now use and enjoy every year.

I'll always have fond memories of the things we as a Board and Association accomplished during my 14 years as advisor or director on the Board, the friends and acquaintances we've made, and the frequent lively discussions with fellow owners and exchangers both here at the Yahoo group and on the TS$MS and TUG websites.

(oh, and a special farewell to Dr.Waco!)

I will still remain a member of TUG and TS4MS.

    In the meantime...
My best regards and wishes of happy timesharing to all!

    Stu Schwartz,

    Former VP/Treasurer & Director
    CPR@LBV Condominium Ass'n

I've heard there's a lot of that "end of an era" stuff going around.

If everyone was as involved, HOA's would be better managed.

        Ain't that the truth.

I'm on the board of our HOA in our subdivision. We have 742 units. Last night was our meeting to present and approve our 2015 budget. We had 11 people present (that includes the board members).

While I don't own at CPR, thanks for your service Stu.

As I've posted before, one of the board members at one of our rresorts said 14 (out of 6000) owners attended the annual meeting in 2013. She said if I wanted to find out anything about the resort, I could attend.

Seriously, attending annual meetings has never been a criteria for being a good and loyal owner. & never will be.

that does not detract from the appreciation for those who serve

I wasn't trying to equate lack of attendance with not being a good owner. I was merely trying to point out the sheer lack of participation.

In our case, we are making decisions and plans with almost no feedback from owners who use the place for far more than one or two weeks a year. Those same owners are then quick to complain if they don't like something or are otherwise adversely affected by one of our decisions. It's hard to make good representative management decisions if no owners express any opinions or offer any feedback until they dislike something.

& in my case, they were dealing with an owner that was giving far more feedback than they cared to deal with.

It's all in the Fine Kettle thread.

The short of it, though, is that after refusing to make any effort to make any information available to any owner for more than a year, soon after they told me how the cow ate the cabbage, they sent out five or six mailings addressing what I was addressing.

All water over the dam or under the bridge.

Hey, I know we're trying to be reverent here, to give Stu kudos for having to deal with owners like me, and I really don't want to break the seriousness of the moment, but just can't help myself, so . . . .

CPR . . . . what a great name for a timeshare resort, so many of them needing exactly that.

Just so you know what I mean by that, the only way owners could get answers to any questions about the resort, including the failure of the Escapes! mini-system, letters from Festiva falsely saying they were taking over the resort, and a lawsuit filed against Escapes! which the owners were not told about, was to write a letter!!!

No phone number. No website. No email address.

But, hey, I don't wanna take away from Stu's efforts, so kudos to him.

While recently departed John Chase was our long-term President and internet guru, CPR had both a fully active and informative home website, http://cypresspointe.net (now being redone by outside firm as John took the Site Password with him!) and the Board greatly followed Cypresspointe egroups that were updated with all of the Resort issues, improvements, owner polls and goings on. I wish all Boards kept owners so involved and informed as ours did, even when they didn't come to Board or Annual meetings.

The Cypresspointe1 Yahoo group (572 members) is also being redone with a slightly new name, now as the Cypresspointe group (with 90 members transitioned over so far). The older site will eventually be closed down. Jim Guffey moderates the new site along with Ralph Owen. I will no longer be moderating the new site, as soon as they get a replacement for me.

Having thought about this for awhile, it could be that the lack of attendance is because everyone is pleased with the job you are doing, not because of apathy.
