  • No State Income Tax

    Florida, but not timeshare . . .

Florida may lure folks with the no state income tax gimmick, but they more than make it up everywhere else.

Like $1050 document stamp to transfer a $150,000 house. $138 to file an LLC annual report, and $400 penalty if you're late. $225 "new wheels on the road" fee. Insurance and on and on

    Sorta like a timeshare.

But that doesn't stop all the old farts from coming here and using all the free senior services that they demand.
Let's see, free taxis, free entrance to the arts, free meals on wheels, free healthcare, free bus fares, free parking and on and on.
That's gotta be paid somehow ya know.

Don't forget the trailer. We have registered two trailers for our one boat (not a very lo0ng story), and I recall a problem with the first one. I believe it was that since it was multiple axle, it had to be weighed (empty), and we did not have an available place to launch the boat, weigh the trailer and then load the boat.

As I recall I did some math from the weights stamped on the ID plates and out favorite Jenny at the tax place accepted it. It does not concern them that the first trailer did not have a title or COO. I believe they generated a new one.

Speaking of Florida, since this forum has such a well-traveled, broad-minded audience, you might get a kick out of this . . .

I had reason to call the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court about a matter today, something that he needs to look into a bit and get back to me. Very nice guy . . . he said, "It'll have to be tomorrow . . . I'm up to my ass in same-sex marriage today."

Move down here and live near Mom.
It's a Miami thing. You can even get free housing.
She knows the system and gets it all except for the housing since she lives in my house already.
Even free gym, computer classes, knitting classes, yoga and on and on.
Of course not to mention the stuff that I pay for for her, like her monthly Red Lobster dinners.

Come hang out with my Mom.
Maybe it's just a Miami thing but they have special taxis here for elderly and disabled.
Of course she much prefers my taxi service.

Guess that's why the Seinfelds moved to Boca Del Vista. All the free stuff, and the cringe-worthy Florida seafood dinners at Led Robster.
