Recommendations for 2 night stay in Clearwater, FL

We are going to be in Clearwater, FL for two nights towards the end of April and would appreciate recommendations on places to stay that are on the beach. There will be three of us.

We are going to be in Clearwater, FL for two nights towards the end of April and would appreciate recommendations on places to stay that are on the beach. There will be three of us.

My fraternity brother, Ed Droste, lives there. Google him for an interesting story.

Maybe he has a room to spare.



The last time we needed a couple nights in that area was when DW and her girlfriends came down to take possession of the house we bought in 2011. I got them a nice "Suites" place, Mainsail I believe, but it is near the airport, not the beach. I pricelined or hotwired it. On hotwire, beachfront hotels are running from $145 to $364/night.

If you get a chance, eat some fried shrimp (or shrimp pasta) at Shells on South Dale Mabry, just a few blocks from the freeway. There's also one on St. Pete Beach, 7081 Gulf Blvd, St Pete Beach FL 33706.

I live part-time in area, but have never stayed in motel/hotel at CW beach. I'd check reviews and decide if you want to be directly on beach or across road.

One of the companies I work with manages Bamboo Beach Club. They renovated the property when they bought it. Very nice. Gets a 5* on TripAdvisor. I think it is 2 blocks from the beach another friend goes to that lives there.
