  • Oh, no! Another OLCC thread -- 1 bedrooms?

Well, with all the strong opinions on OLCC, I'm considering trying it out on my next Orlando trip, especially if I can get a 7500 RCI Points exchange before OLCC gets into Points and no longer qualifies for the discounted last-minute RCI Points exchanges.

However, it looks like the only 7500 RCI Points exchanges for my time period may be one bedroom or studio units. I'm not willing to take a studio, especially since it sounds like the studios don't even have windows that open! But a one bedroom would be adequate, since it'll be just DH and me.

If I got a one bedroom, what could I expect? Which area of the resort might it be in?

I'm also thinking that I might try to stay at OLCC by taking a timeshare tour, although only if I could stay at the resort itself, in at least a one bedroom. (I see that they offer a package here) Has anyone done this? Any chance that they'd put me in River Island? I'm going in October, so it's slow season.

I figure if I take the tour, they'll probably try to sell me on their Global Points program. And then I can say, "Wow! That sounds great! RCI Points sounds wonderful! In fact, it's so wonderful that I already own four RCI Points contracts."

Judy, I understand that exchangers will only be put into the West Village. I keep seeing three bedrooms in the six-week, RCI points window, midnight eastern time, ten our time here in Colorado. I hear they are the best pick of the West Village units.

Cindy, are you searching using RCI Points, or are you using a week over in RCI Weeks? I've been looking for October, even at night, and haven't seen any 3 bedrooms at OLCC lately. (Right now, I don't see any for August or September, either.)

I see them every night with points. I haven't tried with weeks, but I am sure I could pull them easily enough. I can pull three bedrooms on Kauai six weeks out with my weeks, so I probably could even see them with my blue week.

          Thanks, Cindy.

I just tried and saw only up to 2 bedrooms, but I'll try again tomorrow night.

Where do you pull 3-bedroom units on Kauai?

            OL Through RCI Weeks:

            3 Bedrooms 12 / 8 Full 09/02/2006 09/09/2006
            3 Bedrooms 12 / 8 Full 09/08/2006 09/15/2006

            Maybe it's empty RI units!

JLB--Pahio just finished opening several three bedroom units that are not sold yet, so the developer has been dumping three bedrooms like crazy, up to six weeks out. I can pull those with my blue Val Chatelle week. I guess that is why I kept it so long, it still works on all of Orlando in the supposed-red-but-really-blue season.

I saw an amazing thing three nights ago, a Hilton Vacation Club, Hilton Hawaiian Village two bedroom for the first week in September. I have NEVER seen one before in all of my searches. 7,500 points. It was there for about ten minutes.

A day or two ago, I saw a one bedroom HGVC in Hawaii for late August, and was very tempted, but I really can't go to Hawaii right now.

Just to provide a few more details. The 1-bedrooms are available in the West Village, North Village, and part of the 3-bedroom lockout in River Island. All the 1-bedrooms in the North Village are located in the multi-story building next to slash lagoon. The 1-bedroom in the West Village I believe are spread out throughout the section. I believe the 3-bedroom units at River Island are the end units, so the 1-bedroom units should also be at the end of the building on each floor.

                    Hi Gary ( I assume).

Welcome over here. Pull up a chair, put your feet up, lean back, and relax awhile.

Yeah, FWIW, the design of the three-bedroom units, with the bedroom suite sleeping four at the front entrance, extending out from the rest of the unit, is such that all of them easily could have been lockouts by including a separate entrance to that suite.

                        Ditto!

Thanks for the info on the one bedrooms, Gary!

                          Jim;

So true and it is something that if OLCC choose to, it could just put a door in the hallway, a lock on the third bedroom, and you have a nice little lockout. It'd make a nice studio. I believe the 3rd bedroom is actually larger than the 2nd bedroom and the bathroom is already there.

I've actually been monitoring this site off and on. It took me 4 year monitoring Tug before posting there but not quite that long before posting here. I would be tempted to go to Hawaii also but maybe next May. In two weeks I will be in Orlando at the HGVC Tuscany Village (I do like to stay at other resorts in Orlando besides OLCC).

                            Gary:

The only time we stay at OL is when we take our extended family. The front suite is perfect for our nephew, his wife and our great nieces (2 and 7).

It sleeps four, has it's own bathroom, has it's own TV so the little ones have their own and a room to get away from the grownups. Plus, none of them are great housekeepers, so we just keep their door closed! That's what happens when two people whose mothers did all their cleaning up for them get married.

The last time we took the master, since it only sleeps two, but we would be fine in the living room or the third bedroom. The last time we had three more with us, one in the living room and two in the third bedroom.

We haven't got it up to 12 yet,but if everyone in the family that is able was there, it would be 12.

The week after OL, and in OL off-years, we go to SW Florida, where we normally share a unit with another couple.
