This is the first of my reports after returning (yesterday) from 18 days in Florida.

We stayed in a three bedroom at OL Christmas Week, with a 12/23/06 check-in, on an RCI Exchange, one of several we have made to OL. That is their (and Orlando's) busiest week.

There were (eventually) 11 in our group and our preference would have been to be in Buildings 86700 or 86800, in the East Village, to be in a building nearest a pool and a hot tub.

I did not make an advanced request. We were in 86531, an East Village building just two buildings away from our preference. So we had a do-able walk to the original East Village poolplex.

We were also placed in East Village, a 2 br unit, without asking for it (Dec 29 checkin). Ours is the older 86200 building, but it's OK and releatively close to RI.

To bring this up-to-date, I did not put in a request for unit location.

We got a unit in the East Village just a building away from the one I would have requested if I had, because it is convenient to the East Village poolplex my family enjoys (there were 11 of us). The unit was just a nice as all of the 3-bedroom units we get at OL, regardless of where they are located.

Unfortunately, two greens on the Legends golf course were right outside, and the noise from the golf course equipment started every morning at 5 AM. Greens mower, sand trap preparer, weed eaters, regular mowers. Add to that the unusually high number of OL vehicles running around (maybe I just noticed them for the first time), and the resort was very noisy that week.

We were also the building closest to the new toll road, but although that contributed to the visual pollution, the noise from it was not that bad.

Another East Village dilemna, one that we had not encountered before, was that the wind shifted to being out of the East, something that is not that common. Directly to the East from the East Village, on Disney property, is the water treatment plant for all of Disney. We, and just about everyone we saw in the East Village that day, were covering their noses from the stench.

I spoke to a gentlemen in an OL Engineering van that evening and he said it is a problem that the East Village has always had and that OL just has to put up with.

I was kinda hoping to get the Tenis Villas, because that is the only 3-bedroom area we have not experienced, except for RI.
