  • Is $214RT from NY to FL a good price?

It has been a very very long time since I've booked air to Florida.

I just saw an announcement < which I will detail shortly> and called the airlines.

They have given me a quote of $214 RT including taxes for a non-stop for the week prior to Easter.

I've been seeing $293 and up <far far up>. So I'm thinking this may be as good as it gets.

The airline does not permit a 24 hour hold so I need to know before the word gets out if this is good so I can buy them.

    HELP!

    Lawren,

Is that a round trip price?

I'm not sure where in Fla, you're going, or the exact dates?

I had seen some $99.00 and $199.00 each way prices on Jet blue, to Ft. Lauderdale, a couple of weeks ago. I was checking the end of March through Easter.

YEs they are $214RT ( $89 each way plus taxes ) to FLL.

I think I paid around that 3 or 4 years ago to Orlando and was very pleased to get it.

That sounds like Air Tran or somebody like Delta who tries to beat Air Tran at its own game. The best you can do is grab an Air Tran sale when it happens...and I don't think there's a sale at this very moment. Having said that sale fares are always for Sat, Tues-Weds and not allowed to fly for that price Fri or Sun. So often the sales don't mesh with timesharing checkins and outs.

$214 r/t including tax is perfectly fine for NYC to SE FL. So go for it!

                  Funny you should say that!

AIRTRAN AIRWAYS TO BRING NEW AND AFFORDABLE SERVICE TO THE HUDSON VALLEY

Service from Stewart International Airport begins
                  January 11, 2007

October 3, 2006 - AirTran Airways today announced that the airline will add Newburgh, NY, as its 51st destination. The airline will launch new nonstop service from Stewart International Airport to Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa on January 11, 2007.

                  From Introductory Fare
                  Newburgh, NY – Atlanta $79
Newburgh, NY – Ft. Lauderdale $89
                  Newburgh, NY – Orlando $89
                  Newburgh, NY – Tampa $89

                  http://www.airtran.com/newburghpress.aspx

Technically the fare was only good thru March 1st but they gave me March 30-April 6 at that rate. My dates are Fridays.

I just LOVE little Stewart Airport SWF. It is about 45 minutes north of us, We just throw the car in the lot for the week for $60 and go.

                    Lawren,

That's great. I think you got a great deal, and the $60.00 for the car can't be beat, either........

Lawren...excellent! Now, watch...Delta will match that fare if they fly in/out of that airport. Do they? It will happen within a day if that's a Delta route. And, Delta tends to have more flights so if Air Tran just has two or three per day, you can find more options on Delta. I've even flown one way on Air Tran and back on Delta, or vice versa, mixing and matching my trips to/from Atlanta depending on times they offer. You may want to check Delta's website, or wait just one day, before you book Air Tran. (But I do love me my Air Tran! Way better airline than sucky Delta!)

Thanks for being here when I needed you to help me make a decision!

BTW If I use the credit card lot it is only $40/week.

AT will only be doing ONE flight a day to start to each of the destinations but they are pretty sweet departure times. I'm sure Delta has many more but they are not non-stops. Besides the fact that the ONLY airline I will not fly is Delta. I have NEVER forgiven them for the 13 hours in Tampa International without so much as a free drink.

This is a tiny regional airport resembling Sanford Orlando.

I'm happy with what we got.

                              I checked again this morning.
The next cheapest non-stop is Spirit out of LGA. The flight is at 6:40AM and cost $299. Do you have any idea what time I would have to get up to make that? I am much happier with my 2PM flight.

AirTrans website now has the ticket for $40 more than yesterday. I'm so glad Angela convinced me to jump on this as my savings is $120 for an 18 hour period.

                              Departing (Coach)
                              Airfare / passenger $231.63
                              Taxes / passenger (details) $23.17
                              Subtotal / passenger $254.80
                              x 1 passenger(s) $254.80

I hope anyone else in the general area of Newburgh, NY that is considering this acts quickly. With only one scheduled non-stop daily the seats at this price will surely go fast.
