Hilton Closes Resort as Gas leak/ CO2 found

That subject line is a bit misleading. Hilton closed the resort not RCI. What does RCI have to do with it?

      Don't do this to me.

It took 18 MONTHS to find a March 2007 trade to a nice warm beach area and now this.

Well they have 5 months to FIX IT!

Oh no. Lawren, they should have it fixed pretty soon I would think. Don't worry.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Hilton Hotel Guests Test Positive For CO2 Poisoning

            WTVJ-TV
            6:50 p.m. EDT October 24, 2006
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - A Hilton Hotel on South Beach has been temporarily closed after several guests tested positive for carbon monoxide poisoning. Related Content: Images

A red sign is posted on the front door of the Hilton Grand Vacations Club on 14th Street and Ocean Drive, warning that the building is unsafe.

            It started Sunday night.

"We had a call here earlier where two people were not feeling well," said Ed Del Favaro of Miami Beach Fire Rescue. "We transported them to Mount Sinai Hospital. We had no indication there was a gas problem."

At the emergency room, the patients' blood was tested and found to have high levels of carbon monoxide.

"We came back out with our gas monitors and found high levels of carbon monoxide gas in the room where those two people were transported from," Del Favaro said. "As we went upstairs, we found an additional room where four people were sleeping. We got them out and transported them right away. As we went up, we found another room of four."

Mount Sinai officials said 11 patients were transported to the hospital.

"(The symptoms) can be pretty vague," Dr. Thomas Caffrey said. "They can get sleepy. They can get nauseous and they can get a headache."

One guest staying at the Hilton died, but officials said they do not believe the death was caused by carbon monoxide.

"They call carbon monoxide the silent killer," Del Favaro said. "It's colorless, odorless, tasteless. Anybody with gas appliances or a fireplace -- we're coming into winter. It's something to think about."

Officials are trying to figure out where the gas leak came from. The Hilton Grand Vacations Club will remain closed until all gas lines, equipment and ventilations systems pass inspection.

              Lawren,

Try to look at the upside... at least you weren't there NOW

And, five months is a long time, I'm sure they will have it taken care very soon

The last word is that the HGVC location at South Beach is expected to be closed for about 7-10 days.

There are all sorts of laws requiring smoke detectors in public places. You'd think CO2 detectors would also be required where gas is in use.

We have them all over our home.
