Bumped From OL River Island!!!

I've heard from two people recently that OL attempted to not allow them their confirmed reservations in River Island, and place them elsewhere. One is an owner and one a non-owner.

Wow! That's disturbing. They're two separate resorts now. River Island is River Island and West Village is everything else.

How would you feel if you showed up to stay at Houses of Summer Bay and they tried to put you in Summer Bay?

Another owner mentioned this week that OL has always had a problem with their reservations system and I have seen firsthand an overbooking and unit assignment mess at checkin.

So whuzzup with this?

Were they able to stick to it and get into River Island?

And don't you have to assume that if these two posted about it, it is happening to others, those who DON'T post and probably don't know enough to stick to their guns and get placed where they are suppose to?

You remember it! So who won the award? I think most of us stated we would rather drive than walk although the distance probably really isn't very far from RI to Splash Lagoon (less than a mile but many people don't want to walk that mile to another pool area). I'll admit that I could use the exercise from walking (swimming, jogging, tennis, boating, golf, etc.). but I'd probably drive as well (and have).

I have always had an excellent relationship with OL. I believe you are referring to the way it has been distorted OY.

In fact, the folks at OL know me by my email address and at times we play games with each other. One time I inquired about the schedule for the addition of BBQ grills and more hot tubs. I signed it Jose' Jiminez, with a Tijuana address.

Not long after that the phone rang and a lady's voice, laughing, said, "What is it you want, Mr. ________?" We both had a good laugh.

It is not OL that does not have a sense of humor when it comes to suggestions for improvements at OL.

Besides, it looks like getting bumped from RI would be a good thing. The prominent OL owners OY are now saying they would prefer to stay in the Golf Villas in the West Village, because they are more private with less noise and congestion, something like that.

I find that really peculiar after all this hype about rating the villages, pointswise, and after all the bragging about the Tennis Villas, East Village, North Village and, especially, River Island. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the most prolific OL poster OY recently said the East Village is the area that is the most dated, refurbishment-wise.

The only thing I can think is that if they feel they are speaking for OL owners, then OL should devise a plan to put owners into the West Village Golf Villas first and put exchangers in the other areas. That would work!

You know, I have to admit to being disappointed Steve closed that thread so quickly.

I really wanted to see her response, as well as how she managed to once again explain her comments and come out looking like the picked on one yet again. At least in the eyes of the moderators.

OY reminds me of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. It just keeps repeating itself, I believe because they keep targeting for punishment those who are trying to solve the problem rather than the person(s) who are the problem.

I wish I had a dollar for every innocent or helpful post I have made (No, nay-sayers, I am not saying that all of mine have been that ) and when I come back all hell has broken lose. When stuff flies and you are close, some gets on you.

The way I got tied into SWSRN, and thus lumped by some with a truly deranged psycho cyber stalker, was when Jenny and I went to Las Vegas in February, 2002. SWSRN was new to OY and some of the veterans were giving her a hard time. I had posted on her behalf, for them to cut her some slack (just the same as some who were not around then have tried to do the same thing in her many reincarnations).

SWSRN and I were talking be email. Just as we were getting ready to leave for Vegas, my email to her bounced. So I posted, "Ziggy (aka SWSRN), my last email bounced," on the forum where we had been talking OY. That's all I posted.

When I got back from Vegas the thread had flamed and everyone was yelling at everyone, including me, and I had the first of my reprimands from OY.

I can't tell you how many times that same scenario, pretty much, has repeated itself since, regardless of who they have steering the ship.
