Ok, here's the situation...I've been confirmed for next Thanksgiving at OL West Village/2 bdrm...I'm so worried about this resort I was thinking of cancelling. Anyway, I just saw a River Island 2 bedroom checking in one day earlier...crazy me booked it. Now I have two units!

If I'm understanding, they can bump me from RI anyway, right?

    Here are my choices:

Cancel the RI unit and just keep what I have
Cancel the West Village and use RI - I'll loose $119
Cancel both and book another resort!
Keep both units and invite friends and family to join us

For those who have been to OL, what would you do if you were me? OL sounds wonderful...I have a 3 1/2 year-old...these West Village stories are just scaring me.

    Would love your thoughts.

If it were me, I would keep the original reservation. I like the Golf Villas.

However, if you want to ensure that you will stay in River Island, I would pay the extra dollars. Just keep your reservation and your cancellation notice and bring it with you if they try to move you to another section of the resort.

If they do, they should refund your other money at a minimum. But, if you insist on getting what you booked, you probably will get it.

The 2 BDRM sleep 8/6 is almost with 100% certainty a Golf Villa. That is what we got the Thanksgiving we went. Now that might not be a bad thing, depending on if it is the 1 in 8 that is completely redone from the floors up. Even if not they were OK units. No one making noise on top of your head right? and park right outside your door. Just adjust your expectations. OK not .

What is the check-in on it? If a Sunday I would pretty much bet the ranch on Golf Villas. Tennis Villas does not have a Sunday check-in.

If you are booking into RI you should GET RI and I would stand there and INSIST on getting what I had booked.

I would be tempted to keep them both if you have fam/friends that would join you. It truly is a wonderful resort with a multitude of things to offer many people of all ages.

I personally am watching to see if the ratings change for OLCC-RI and OLCC-everything else...

So my original is a Saturday check in...the RI reservation is Friday. Still think Golf Villas?

          Yes.
Thanksgiving is a very busy week there. It just isn't a 99.9% sure thing that it is a golf villa.

            1 in 3

Also, they won't give me a hard time about the 1 in 3 thing will they? Since they are two different check-in dates, etc?

That shouldn't be an issue as they are contiguous weeks. You also should NOT need a GC as you will be on premise but they will probably require you to check-in for both weeks.

Also, since they are two different resorts and resorts numbers with RCI, they shouldn't give you any problems, IMHO.

I will ask Madge on the other site, and let you know what she says, but she is on vacation till December 4, 2007.

Whether the units are a golf villa, a North/East Village, Tennis Villas, or the River Island, all OLCC units, from my understanding, are 8/6 so that designation doesn't tell you which section you are in. From another thread, it appears and I would expect that the current OLCC West Village will broken into OLCC West Village (original OLCC), OLCC North Village, and OLCC East Village. Based on the points for GoGlobal which are double the RCI Points value, the separation into different resorts should be expected. Like Boca, I like the West Village but I understand that others like different things. I don't think that is a bad thing but I think variety is good but I find it irritating that people suggest something is undesirable because of their personal preferences while another person might like it. Having said all that, I would guess that the reservation will be for the original OLCC West Village as well. There are about 2500 or so (probably slightly more as they are still building) units at OLCC with a little over 1200 in the West Village (of this roughly 800 are the golf villas with the rest the Tennis Villas and the multistory units at Magnolia Court). Simple numbers suggest that the probability of placement means it will be the West Village. I've been in the golf villas several times without a problem. I have never been in the units at Magnolia or in the Tennis Villas.

Since you have already paid for the units, I would keep both and invite family and friends. You have the best of both worlds with the ability to use the RI unit as meeting place for going to River Island which I think the 3 1/2 year would enjoy but you might also like Splash Lagoon. I have a friend whose 5 year just loves Splash Lagoon and we moved from the River Island pool to the Splash Lagoon pool and she enjoyed herself much more there (primarily because she was too young for the slide at River Island and she was able to use the slide at Splash Lagoon - River Island needs to add a smaller slide for younger children especially given the overall depth of the pool is not very deep to begin with). I think the vacation would be fun for everybody involved.

I guess that confirms the suspicion that there are now actually four separate OLs in Kissimmee, plus the Wisconsin one.

I see their grammar is like mine, PAST instead of PASSED.

Any bets that 8896 & 8897 are pre-assigned resort numbers that will be designated OL at North Village and OL at East Village?

                            Duh!

The wording also clears up questions about the trading restriction, saying it applies only to exchanges and that it is a system-wide restriction.

                              Thanks.

I appreciate the insite. I guess that if I'm going to stay in RI in the next three years that I should keep the exchange!
