I'm guessing the way it works is that if you get $100 card they put $20 more on it and ship it to you free.

      And your point is?
Why not just start a new thread instead of digging up old dirt?

All the Shells in Miami closed a while ago.
I'm glad to see they are still around.

There's nothing wrong with having old friends and revisiting topics that were popular and meaningful to us and them.

Shell's is one of them, and was frequently discussed here and OY.

For DW and I, it is synonymous with our mutual love of Florida, and timesharing, since our first Shell's visit came on our first Florida vacation together, the week we bought our first timeshare. That was to the original Shell's in Tampa, where we'll be going today.

I suspect we'll order exactly what we did that first time. The only things different will be the prices and no peanut shells on the floor. Speaking of prices, 20-some years ago fried shrimp was $6.99, and came with parsley-buttered new potatoes and mandarin orange cole slaw. We would add a salad and a loaf of bread to share for $.99 each.

They have gone back and forth with the loaf of bread over the years, and last year you had to add it for $1.99.

Lovers of Shell's are obviously familiar with the collapse of the Corporate stores and that just the original one and the one in Melbourne are left.

I suspect each person here, OY, and on any Internet forum, enjoys talking about the things they enjoy talking about.

If anyone is handy, we're looking to get there around 2:00.

          It was great, as always.

It occurred to us that it was our 25th Shell's Anniversary.

Came back to add that we are both stuffed, back home in our elastic waistband Jammie's.

                Again last night.

It's a shame for Shell's location, or whatever keeps them from being more popular.

DW & I ordered a fried shrimp dinner and a fried clam strip appetizer, because it was "Appetizer" Wednesday, and a loaf of their wonderful bread, of course.

When they brought the food out, they had "split" the shrimp dinner, but each of our plates had a full order of fries and cole slaw. So, we thought maybe they had misunderstood and brought us two full dinners.

Nope, that's how they split it.

twenty bucks for all of that, and we couldn't hardly eat it all.

Revisit the Old Fart Herd (or have you forgotten them in your haste to build that Florida real estate empire?).

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Oh yeah, Shell's has opened a third location in the Tampa area . . . St. Pete Beach.
