. . . but it did happen while we were in Florida.
My dad died four-and-a-half years ago. Prior to his death I hired an attorney to help him with some thefts and churning by my dad's brokerage, not knowing that dad would soon die. (After all, he didn't tell me he was planning on going anywhere.)
The attorney became the attorney for the estate. He is one of those bow-tied, pompous-ass types of attornies, no offense to any bow-tied pompous asses here, or to Garry Moore, who never appeared to be pompous.
I spent thousands of hours, and dollars, investigating dad's finances, looking at almost all day-by-day transactions going back to 1989. I put it all together and handed it to pompous-ass attorney, gratis. He returned the favor by stopping all communications with myself and the other beneficiaries, and doing the opposite of what he knew we would want whenever he had the opportunity to. I have not received an email or a phone call from his office in, who-knows, two or three years.
The attornies involved in the estate received approximately the same share as each of the beneficiaries.
Last Friday as my buddy and I were on our way to golf with Mr. Rapmarks and Conch Man in Estero, FL,, my cell phone rang. It was a lady from the attorney's office asking if I had any idea why my brother had not cashed the final distribution check or signed off on the Estate, and asking if there was anything I could do.
Are people really that clueless, or is it just attornies?
