  • House at Summer Bay

We will be staying there next month and I've got a couple of questions.

Does anyone have a map of the House area? I'd like to request a House with a hottub, but not too close the clubhouse. (Someone complained about being too noisy someplace, but I can't remember which units it was.)

Do they provide extra paper goods, dishsoap, etc. or do you need to provide your own?

    Thanks,

    Nancy

        Hi Nancy -

I haven't had a chance to dig out my Summer Bay map, but if I can lay my hands on it, I'll let you know the house numbers. The houses line each side of a single street. One side is lakefront and the other side overlooks a pond and the road and condo buildings beyond it. There are pools with hot tubs on both sides of the street, but it's been my experience that it's easier to get a hot tub on the pond side. The pond side is also a little farther removed from the clubhouse noise - although that was never a problem for us, even in the pond-side unit closest to the clubhouse. I actually prefer the pond view houses because I enjoy sitting on the pool lanai and watching the resort wake up in the morning. The bicycles and surreys, the joggers and walkers -- it's fun. The lake, especially in the winter, feels a little depressing to me (brown rather than green). But that's just my humble opinion.

As far as supplies are concerned, you get a pretty good starter supply. They don't offer complimentary extras (though I suspect you could probably get them). There's a Publix next door and a Super Wal-Mart around the corner, so anything extra you need is readily available. There's also a sundries shop in the clubhouse area.

I was lake side in the second unit from the pool. It had the hot tub but there weren't seperate controls for the pool water and the hot tub water so they were always the same temperature. That being the case, I would not choose the hot tub option again. If you just have the pool without the hot tub the swimming area is larger.

Also, the karaoke music was fairly loud until 11:00, as I recall. I would prefer to be a little further away if possible.

I think that when I checked in, they asked me what my preferences were and then tried to accommodate me.

Just let me know if I can help out any more.

            Thanks

Thanks all for the responses. Is a week early a good time to call for a request or should I do it sooner?

            Thanks again,

            Nancy

I would e-mail them two weeks out and then follow up with a phone call about a week out. reservations@summerbayresort.com

                  House at Summer Bay

I will be staying there this summer. I have been on site and previewed the homes, but I am currious about this hot tub thing. As I undertand it, only 7 of the homes have both a Hot Tub and a Pool. Do the remaining units have only a pool? Is there a hot tub in the Master bath area or do you get no jaccuzzi at all if you do not get the one that comes with the enclosed patio and pool. The unit I saw had both in the enclosed patio area, so I am not familiar with the others layouts.

All the houses have two spas inside the house. One in each of the two main rooms. There is a third bathroom with a bath tub attached to the third room.

Some pictures from our October trip. All three generations enjoyed it a lot. Wish we could go back this year.

                        Great Pictures

Thanks Dorota. Those are great pictures. I see you had a house with a hottub. Do you remember which house it was?

                        Thanks

It was the last one on the pond side, close to the pool. I think it was 310 but not sure. The "hot tub" is really not a hot tub though... The water is the same temperature as the pool...

                            Great photos Dorota!

You ahve me convinced. IF we ever go back to Orlando it is a Houses of Summer Bay!!!

If we get a photo link to our review section in the future I'd love to see your unit shots used.

I am glad you enjoyed them. It was a perfect place for us. With my mom and dad, who wanted to relax more, I did not feel guilty about leaving them behind at times. They were perfectly happy. It was also very relaxing to hop in the pool after a long day in the parks. Of course, the kids had to try out the big pool too.
