  • SOS/Stat - Just got BCV for Christmas

    Hello,
I have BCV (Beach Club Villas - DVC) on hold for Dec 21-28th. It's a studio. I've heard pro & con re: Disney at Christmas.
    Any advice ?
    Thanks !!!!!!!!!!

If you go to WDW on Christmas day, it may be one of the most miserable experiences in your life due to the number of people.

We were there about 3 years ago and the lines were very long. It is one of those things that once you have done it, you never want to do it again, or at least that is the way with our family. Sea World wasn't to bad and some of the other activites and things to do around Orlando were OK.

Okay then. Thanks to you all for confirming my suspicions.

Here's what I'll do............... I understand that it's not as terrible from the 21-23rd-ish. I'll try the parks, etc. Then, on the 25th, I'll just hang out and relax, find my MoJo, meditate, read a book that I don't have to yellow highlight (that would be a change). From the 26th on will have to play it by ear.

Maybe I'll see if that Cove attraction is open and if so, I'll look into booking a swim with the dolphins today.

This will be my 4th DVC property. I've already done Key West (my favorite) x2, Saratoga, Boardwalk. Need to do the Wilderness Lodge (couldn't go the time I booked it two years ago). A T/S goal that I have is to stay at each DVC.

If I decide not to go, maybe I can swap something out with a member of Timeshareforums Nation.

          Thanks.

My favorite part about doing Disney at Christmas time is seeing the resorts. The decorations there are much more fabulous than the parks. There are also some special events going on each day at one resort or another. I could spend a week just hanging out and never even go into a park.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Depending on how the calendar falls, it just keeps getting busier and busier every day from the 25th on.

When we were there about 4 years ago, I was told by the ts staff that Dec 31st is historically the buzziest day of the entire year. That if you don't get to Magic Kingdom by 10, they don't let in at all that day.

Wow...it will be wonderful! We were there Christmas week of 04, and at Disneyland Christmas week of 06. Yes it is crowded, but also a wonderful time to spend at Disney. I'm sure you will have an absolutely lovely time, especially on property!

P.S. BCV is just a short walk to the International Gateway into Epcot. That is not an area that is ever packed, as it doesn't really have many rides...but I love it there!

In my next life, I want to be Beags, what a great travel schedule you have coming up.
WDW at Christmas is beautiful...you must be sure to go around and see all the different hotels all decked out in their holiday finery.

I took a tour called "Yuletide Fantasy" that takes you into the various parks behind the scenes - it was SO cool to be in the World Showcase at Epcot before opening and MGM and MK - you must go to epcot and tour the countries with all the traditional decorations and foods.

Treat yourself to a special Christmas dinner at one of the hotels...I really like Artist Pointe At Wilderness Lounge. And I bet the Grand Floridian has some cool Christmas stuff, too.

Go see the Gingerbread House in the lobby there that you can walk into!

LOL, trust me, don't come back as me as it could include the almost X-DH and me Mudder.
Anyway, this exchange just gets better............. I got a call from II this a.m. who wanted to confirm if I was using HPPM Hyatt pts. It's (the Hyatt system )too confusing to explain here. I asked them that instead of using my Hyatt pts, could we used a non-Hyatt deposit, a Martha's Vnyd. Harborside Inn studio July week that I deposited last year. ?Not a problem. Still have all my Hyatt pts. to play with. I get withdrawal without having them to search with.
                      Tah dah.
I don't care if it is crowded, I want to be warmer in December even if it's Bayonne.

                        Congrads,
I love Disney at Christmas with all the decorations. As stated make sure you go around to the other resorts and check out their decorations as well. The parks will be very crowded, we did this trip a couple of years ago. We went to MK on Dec. 30th and couldn't even move, wasn't enjoyable at all. We traveled there from Dec 25th till Jan 2nd. The closer we got toward New Year's Day the more crowded the parks became.

Anyway have fun and don't worry about the crowds.

Where can I get more info about this cool Yuletide Fantasy tour?

Beaglemom3, that's great that II let you have your Hyatt points back! Did you have to pay a re-trade fee?

You can now search for a New Year's DVC week!

Thank you all for your advice.

Nope, had one trade fee refunded and the other one charged, that is, just one fee. Good question.

I'm so stingy with those pts. ! If I can avoid using them, I do at all costs.
