Hello from HGVC South Beach!

Well we finally got here! A day late and some free RT airline tickets later.

An uneventful flight down and easy van service from FLL. The buildings are very nice as is our one bedroom unit 2306.

I had called yesterday and spoke with Orlando, the on-site manager, to advise we had been bumped and he checked us thru for the McAlpin building.

We are on the third floor and the very back of the building. I strongly suspect that only the 2 streetfront units on floors 2 and 3 have a view; so am pleased with our top floor unit with only one adjoining apartment wall. I suspect it is probably one of the quietest locations to have.

Because we didn't arrive until nearly 8PM we just went next door to The Front Porch that Glitter and CarolC recommended. Food was actually very good although it was nearly too dark to read the menu...

I took photos of the unit before we "settled in" and will share those upon my return. If I had to describe the overwhelming color of the unit I'd say mushroom. Very small place, only 52 units in total between two 4 story buildings. I feel lucky to have gotten it.

Tomorrow is just a relax on the beach day.

Enjoy fun in the sun and we can't wait for more reports. It's a gray day in NJ and seems cold (heat is coming on this morning) so you are definitely in a better place than some of us. But you knew that.

Btw, don't forget the Art Deco Market on Washington Ave for your grocery needs. They have decent prices and good selections considering it's such a small space.

Hi Guys!

Having a great time drinking thru the list you have all given me.

The price gouching <sp?> in some areas/services is incredible due to spring break but there are still things to do and lots of great people watching. You can barely walk down the curb by Versace's place at night and traffic up & down Ocean Drive is at a near standstill all hours of the day.

I'm having a devil of a time keeping the wireless connection here though. That might be a good thing.

Off to Coral Gables today I think. Depends on when the people I'm with get UP!
