I have an exchange for a 2BR at the Boardwalk. In looking at my II confirmation I can't tell if it is a standard view or preferred view. Is there a way to tell?

No way to tell, we stayed in a 2br exchange last sept, and from what I could tell, they banish exchangers to the farthest standard rooms at the resort?

I agree, exchangers are not usually given priority views.

Word of advice.......Ask how far your unit is from the elevator, if that will make a difference to you. Once, we grabbed a week with an AC, and were placed the furthest away, that I have ever been to an elevator, anywhere. Not exaggerating here, it was crazy. It felt like our walk to the elevator, was further than our walk to Epcot.

I love the resort, and the people, tho. It's my favorite Disney resort. Have fun!!!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Is there a particular location I should ask for? What kind of a view do you get with the standard view? TIA

You were lucky to get an exchange into a 2 bedroom at Disney's Boardwalk. Maybe a medical request (if necessary) would get you closer to the elevators and a better view?

As both a DVC owner and a frequent exchanger into DVC through II, I can say that an exchanger does not get worse units. If fact every time I have traded into BWV (although 1 BR was the best I could do) it has been a preferred view. The last time it was overlooking the courtyard over the art gallery with a partial view of the boardwalk. Now if I could just luck into a 2BR

One thing that we always do when we exchange into DVC is when we call to pay the $95, we give our room requests. We have always been at Old Key West and we always request to be near the Hospitality House and main pool and have been put there everytime except for once when they put us in building 34 (I think that was the number, it was the first set of units that you encounter if you are taking a boat ride to downtown Disney). The children enjoyed sitting on the balcony and waving to everyone heading to and from Downtown Disney, so it turned out OK.

We have our first non-OKW DVC exchange this July into a 1 bedroom at Beach Club Villas. It is our first time staying there. Anyone have any suggestions for what we can request? We do always request to be near an elevator because of some medical problems that I have.

When checking in for our stay at OKW in February '07 we requested a unit closer to the Hospitality area and we did receive it. The view wasn't anything special, however, access to the pool, Olivias etc. was just a short walk away. Never stayed at the BWV so can't comment on that resort and its policies.

Standard rooms would be a view of the parking lot -- is that really what you got?

I didn't get a Standard View when I traded in -- like JuneB, I got a "Preferred View." Mine was a "Preferred Water View." I wouldn't expect a Boardwalk View, because the owners snap up all of those. Likewise, Standard View rooms get snatched up by owners who want them because they cost fewer points than a Preferred View. My impression is that II trades are usually Preferred Water View units.

Distance from the elevators has little or nothing to do with view; rooms close to the elevators can be found in all view categories. To get one, the best thing to do is show up relatively early in the day.

All the Beach Club DVC units are in one small building behind the main Beach Club building. The elevator in that building should be central to all of them; however, the DVC units are not very close to the main pool or other facilities at Beach Club. They are very close to Epcot, which is nice.
