  • Florida Bay Club, Key Largo -- Informed Opinions?

I have a chance to use a week here and would appreciate any informed and current information or opinions (good, bad or indifferent) about this specific resort facility in particular, and/or about Key Largo in general. My own personal experience with Key Largo has been limited to just scurrying past en route to the lower Keys, and even that was just a very few times (and more than a few years ago). I seem to recall some folks here having some strong opinions about Key Largo, maybe including some input about this specific resort? Current and informed input requested, welcomed and appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd check TUG (Timeshare Users Group - Timeshare Owners Helping Each other, Unbiased Timeshare Information for All Owners, Buy Sell Rent Timeshare). They have six user reviews of this resort. Some loved it, some did not. If you aren't a member of TUG, you can join for $15. It's money well spent.

I am a TUG member and had already seen that handful of reviews before posting my inquiry here (and one on TUG as well, actually). Unfortunately, none of the reviews were either current or detailed. Nonetheless, sincere thanks for making the effort to provide the info and link.....

I was hoping you'd get a reply. We're considering Key Largo for 2009. If I find out anything I'll post here.

          Theo,
Over on redweek.com (Log In - RedWeek.com) there are two reviews, one from 2005 & one from 2007. Not as substantial as the reviews on TUG but both positive. 4 stars out of 5. Again you have to join to read the reviews.

I'm a RedWeek member already so I'll check those reviews out --- thanks.
I've also sent a private message to a fellow who owns a few weeks at Florida Bay Club. If he responds to my inquiry, I'll share that input (either publicly via forum post, or if he expresses a preference for privacy or other reason(s), I'll contact you by PM). I'm told that he is actually selling some of the weeks he owns there. It might be informative to know why he is selling (if those reasons have anything at all to do with the resort itself).

Well, after some email exchange with an owner of multiple weeks at this facility, it appears that he owns several units there just to rent them out. Accordingly, I've not succeeded in learning much of anything about the resort itself. With a total of only 18 units, it's obviously a small place. SOMEONE stays there, but I've yet to find them....

I have a 3-BR on hold at Florida Bay Club. Can anybody give any updated info?

No new reviews on TUG. RCI has four reviews in 2008. However, as with the TUG reviews, they go from Terrible to Terrific. Does anyone own there or been there recently? I have posted a couple of times on TUG seeking anywhere in Florida that may have good snorkeling. No one really offered any suggestions, so I assumed there were none. However, this resort popped up with availability today and its description indicates it is in close proximity to a State Park Coral Reef with great snorkeling and diving. These are 3-story townhouse-style condos that were converted to timeshares. Anybody? Thanks!

Welcome Newbie . . . here at least. You know who.

Conch Man would be the one . . . probably the only one . . . I would ask.

At the Moonrise Party a couple weeks ago he talked about the upper Keys, but I believe Islamorada.

Is this resort located in the Florida Keys? I can't say anything bout the resort but if its in the Keys, snorkeling is every where! From Key Largo down to Key West which I know the best snorkeling is at Looe Key near Big Pine Key. There are others as well but its still #1 in the Florida Keys.

Welcome to the boards here on Timeshare Forums!!

                      Thanks, JLB and Conch Man!

I got a private message on the "resort?". Although it's in the middle of things we would love and enjoy (snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, Everglades, turqoise waters, etc.) and we wouldn't be at the resort all that much, I think I'm going to have to let this one go. The resort obviously has the potential to be great, but that's not the case due to the lack of care given to it. We are not real picky folks. Now that I know that there is decent snorkeling in the keys, that is where I will focus my searches. Thanks guys!!!!!

I have tried to keep track of Top Ten Beaches awards, and Bahia Honda was one of them three or four years ago. Then we got The Galleon for our January Florida Junket soon after that.

We checked out Bahia Honda on the way down. It's just right there alongside the highway. It would be a nice place if we got a big 5th wheel made to roam, so we could take the critters. My dogter would love it!

Really, that's what DW would like to do . . RV to Florida, or elsewhere.
