  • hotel or t/s between airports

I thought I would be clever and overnight in the Miami FFL area before and after our ST. Martin trip. We fly into FFL on Southwest ( I have lots of free tix) and fly out of Miami on American. Of course, I saved money. But maybe this wasn't such a good idea, cause now I have to rent a car both times and pay for hotels. Anyway, can anyone suggest a good place to stay that is midway between these 2 airports? Most of the hotels I've checked will only do shuttles to one airport or the other, but not both. Thus, the car. I'm going to try FF Palm-aire since I'll need a car anyway, but I don't know if they will do 1 night. If I could eliminate the car, I could do the hotel if they had shuttles. Any help would be appreciated

For one night I would use Priceline and be willing to go as low as 2 stars, though you may be able to get a nightly at Palm-Aire.

eta: if you mean FLL, Fort Lauderdale, it isn't that far b/t FLL and Miami (25 miles), you can use priceline for Miami (if you have an early am flight), or either one if you'll have time to get to Miami in the morning from the ft lauderdale area.

I think we leave Miami around 11AM and arrive back around 4PM. So I will probably so something closer to Ft. Lauderdale and spend the extra time driving to and from Miami. I've used priceline many times in Omaha before an early AM flight and always been really satisfied. I was just hoping someone knew of one hotel with shuttles to both airports. Cab fare is horrendous, so a car seems like a better bet.

If it is within 90 days, Palm Aire does take 1 night, if there is inventory available. If you are VIP+ the only question is is it worth the point, otherwise you will add HK which may not worth it.

Call VC, and if one says no, call another one.

I am VIP so HK doesn't matter. I'm with you - whenever I get a VC who isn't helpful, or talks so softly I can't understand them, I hang up and start over.

Why don't you do the Royal Vista? It is much closer to the beach ( on the beach) and nearer the FLL.

Anything in Pompano is going N away from FLL and Miami.

What is the dated. There is a $129 nite special, but only for a very limited period at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood ( Check TA under FLL or Hollywood)

The Marriott Holywood Beach also has a $129 code, but it might be ending before you get there.

Atlantic Sands (one bedrooms) Beachfront S/B $89 until Dec 15 th. Then it really goes up.

Thanks Ken. I didn't realize that the Royal Vista was closer to Miami. We are travelling Feb 1 and 8th so I guess this is prime time. I'm going to try the 90 day window, and if that doesn't work I'll prabably priceline it.

I would never do a 2 star hotel in either FLL or MIA with Pricline. While 2 star might be fine in most parts of the country it's likely to get you a dangerous flee bag of a hotel in either of these city's. If both of these locations I have trouble with the potential quality unless it's a 4 star hotel. For that matter, I've given up the Priceline/Hotwire crapshoot in both locations and will generally book one of the Hampton Inn's around the airport. While they might be $125/night they're at least safe and clean. The last 2 star we stayed in was in FLL and it was the Comfort Inn on Stirling. Amenities included girls that could be rented by the hour, clean sheets on request, cold water for the shower, minature livestock in the room, non-locking doors and all the dust you might ever want. Sure you might get lucky and get a decent 2 star hotel for a place to sleep but why risk a sleepless night and have to pay for it?

While the hotel's might not have shuttle's to both airports there are several shuttle services that do go between both airports for a reasonable fee. Could be less expensive than renting a car. You could take the hotel shuttle to your hotel room and be picked up the someone like SuperShuttle to take you to the other airport.

Tell me the zone you Pricelined in Omaha, and I will try to guess where you stayed.

                    2 1/2 stars, downtown.

My guess is the Courtyard by Marriott in the old market district, which they built using an old warehouse.

The Sheraton and Doubletree would be 3 Star.

I've gotten all three through Priceline.

Yesterday I pricelined a hotel for our arrival in Orlando. We want to eat at Shells on the way from the airport, play golf the next morning, and then drive on to our SW FL resort on the beach.

We prefer the Airport or Universal zones.

Hotwire had a 2.5 Star in the Airport zone for $36.

I used that as a bidding guide, and bid $30. I failed in the airport zone down to 2 Star, so added Universal.

I got two rooms at the Extended Stay Deluxe @ $30. The location could not be better. There is a Shells on the way from the Sanford Airport, and the hotel is at the intersection of I-4 and the turnpike. The golf course we want to play is at another turnpike exit.
