I am taking my family (wife and 3 daughters, ages 8, 11, 13) to the Florida Keys for New Year's week. We will have a place for the week at Key Largo and plan to spend one night at Key West to explore that area. Which area would be best for us to spend New Year's Eve -- Key Largo or Key West? I mean does either location do anything special like fireworks, etc. that would be appropriate for kids? Thanks. Tim

We spent New Year' Eve on Key West almost 20 year's ago, so my info is dated, but I doubt much has changed with respect to the major partying that goes on on Duval Street -- Key West loves to party, I wouldn't bring young children there on New Year's eve (and I do bring my kids to places others might not). Duval Street is closed to traffic, bars/restaurants were serving drinks out the windows, it was jammed with people were having a very good, loud, drunk, time....
I also imagine that driving there and parking is going to be difficult. But you may find some resort parties available at the family timeshares there like the Hyatts, worth inquiring.
