I would have guessed their addresses to have been in the 500's, street wise --- but I would clearly have been mistaken (for neither the first nor the last time). I also seem to recall those cottages being quite small; the thought of a shared wall with adjoining occupants within the same structure would not particularly entice me, personally. YMMV.

My thoughts exactly, but please, what is YMMV (I rarely run into shorthand I can't decipher)?

Area to go Captiva or Sanabel? Resorts Both new and old that have been redone, Resort that you may like Restaurants,
Also last time I was here I stayed at Sanabel beach club 2. The beach was loaded with Sea shells so much that we came home with enough to fill a 2 gallon glass bowl. Is the beach still like that?

Frank: I'd try going to sanIbel. Not sure where sanAbel is.

We were there our week 39 (Sep - Oct). Shells are more scarce than they used to be. Not enough hurricanes and other good storms to stir them up and drop them on the beaches. Our place is Sanibel Beach Club I, at Nerita Street, so we walk the beach and also out to the sandbar. Found lots of shells that were either occupied by their original owners or by tenants (crabs). We put them all back. Word is you may take those occupied by tenants and boil the crabs out if they won't leave on their own. We just assume that crabs need help surviving, so we put them back. We brought home enough nice shells to fill a two quart bowl, which is now sitting on my desk at work.

Traders is a really nice restaurant that we only get to go to once every four years or so. The reason? Traders is usually closed during our week, but when the week shifts to mostly October days, Traders will open the Friday we are there.

Had a very bad experience at a new restaurant called Cip's place. My wife had good Grouper. I ordered a medium well done steak and got a raw steak. NOT TOO HAPPY.

We always have lunch at Grandma Dot's. My wife loves their Grouper. They are also open for dinner, so you might try a dinner.

I assume your friend is doing an exchange? If so, take whatever comes available that is at least two-bedroom, two-bath.

                      When areyou talking about BF?

With the new & improved RCI San/Cap has been very scarce, except in the 14-day window.

I don't know that there is a bad place to stay on Sanibel, assuming Sanibel is the primary mconsideration.

As for Cap, South Seas is it, is it not?

Looks like I can add Sanabel Sanibel to my huge list of spelling errors.
They do not own a TS and I doubt I will be able to pull one in for them since they are looking for peak time there. Most likely rent from the resort or a top hotel. I recall a top hotel in the Captiva area near the Mucky Duck that closed down after the big Huricane years back. Not sure if it reopened or not.

I have a feeling It may have to be in the 14 day window. I would bet knowing my friend he would be looking to go a few weeks after Football season. He loves the game so much that he has had season tickets for 2 different teams.

The place we had stayed ar was Sanibel Beach club II across from the Lighthouse. We loved it there, Is South Seas in Captiva as nice?

We've never stayed at South Seas, but what we have seen of it is very nice. We understand there are different developments within South Seas and some are nicer than others. It is near the Mucky Duck and was rebuilt after the hurricane.

There are a lot of places as nice as Sanibel Beach Club II on Sanibel/Captiva. Some are timeshares, some are not.

'Tween Waters on Captiva is well thought of. Also Sanibel Arms, Sanibel Cottages, Ocean's Reach, Casa Ybel, Tortuga, and Pointe Sanibel.

We stayed at Lighthouse, and had a moonrise party with the Rapmarks and the Conchmans (RIP). Conch and I had a bet as to where the moon would rise, sorta over the lighthouse. He lost, but I had the benefit of having been there a few nights.

Couldn't have a sunset party cuz Lighthouse is on the bay (east) side.

A ton of money was poured into South Seas by a new company after Charley. I'm sure you can find a thread about it. It became even more upscaley, and the existence of TS sorta became a regret.

When the road ends at the north tip of Captiva, Southa Seas begins, on the other side of their gate.

I am wondering if South Seas was the hotel/resort I saw that was closed down when I was there.
BTW Jim I have been getting emails from Conchman he is sending me spam links from beyond the grave. In fact that was I believe the last time I saw him alive in Sanibel I reported the hackers so I think they closed his email account since I did not get any more emails since that day.

You have to drive all the way across Sanibel, onto Captiva, and to the end of the road at the north to see South Seas. The road goes about another 1/2 block and ends at a beach parking lot.

You can't see much of South Seas from the road.
