Key West Questions - Day Tripper

Hello,
I'm off to the Hyatt Bonita Coconut Plantation 3/13 - 3/16 to see the 2007 World Series Boston Red Sox Champs in spring training. Woo Hoo !!!
Anyway, the girls and I want to take the ferry to Key West from either Naples or Ft. Myers for the day.
Any suggestions for lunch, dinner or other ? Just planning to do the Duval Street thing. I 'm going to look for a tour of Key West, but would appreciate any guidance and advice from my fellow Forumers.

I love the area. This is my fifth time there.

Victoria's Secret ? Not until next year when I've shed some law school weight. Long nights in the law library eating Twizzlers, Doritos and Dr. Pepper have added up !

Maybe meet for a drink and I could show you the resort ?

Beags, I'll check tomorrow's paper for a coupon on the ferry from Ft. myers. You have to be @ the dock around 8 a.m. and it leaves @ 9. Leaves Key West around 6 and gets back around 10 or so. Takes about 3 1/2 hours one way. If the weather is too rough they might cancel. DD takes it from Key West to here....very nice ferry. Free parking @ the dock in Ft. Myers. (not so @ Key West).
If you and Pat get together let me know and I might be able to join you. Would like to meet you.

I thought the Hemingway house was interesting, but don't go if you are allergic to cats.

If you can, stay for the sunset celebration at Mallory Square.

Yes, I could get together for a quick cup of something and show you the resort. My neighbor Nancy and I are going as our third party cannot make it now. So, I should be able to say hello at least.

When we were in KW on a cruise stop we took a tram tour which was quite nice. The "depot" is 2-3 blocks in front of Mallory square; shouldn't be difficult to find at all.

I think with just the day in Key West, you would want to do the tram tour as suggested.

My $0.02 worth...

BO's Fish Wagon is located at the juncture of William St. and Caroline St. and is (in my opinion) a great place for lunch. More than just fish, semi-outdoors cafe style and within easy walking distance. If you object to the funky atmosphere and/ or the occasional chicken strolling through the place at will, or if you want to be completely indoors, Alonzo's is good and is not far from that same general area. ....Or you could join the hordes stuffed like sardines in a tin inside Sloppy Joe's.

If you're going to be spending 1/3 of your day on that boat, dinner in Key West won't actually be an option --- you'll be checking back in at the ferry terminal long before dinner time for your 3 1/2 hour endurance ride back to FMB.

Hopefully I can work it out. Saturday DH & I have a concert in Bonita to go to around 2 p.m., courtesy of UBS, but that's about it. What day (time) are you going to the Sox game.
