  • Marco Island/Naples Restaurants?

Looking for recommendations for places with really good food, prefer to avoid "scene."

Zagat's has a total of one restaurant rated in the area Is there a reliable dining guide down there? I try to steer clear of the "magazines" where the listings are all ads...

The Snook Inn is one of my favorites...it's a local, dock-side restaurant...NOTHING FANCY, but good grouper sandwiches. It is on Marco Island.

For some real OLD FLORIDA ambiance, head down to the Everglades City Rod & Gun Club (don't let the name scare you...it's a hotel/restaurant)- good fried seafood, frogs legs, etc. Everglades City is how Naples used to be.

Here are a few more -

On 5th Avenue South (nice area to walk at night, nice restaurants) - Yabbas (caribbean)

Alexanders (4077 Tamiami trail) - good food, nice variety

One of my Mom's favorites is called Wyles Cafe on Bonita Beach Road (north side of Naples) - great wine list, excellent food. It's nothing to look at from the outside as it is in a strip mall, but is a real gem.

For OUTSTANDING shrimp almondine go to Tropical Reef (4077 Tamiami Trail) - I go there every time i am home.

BE CERTAIN to head out to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary...you will thank me. All ages will really enjoy this place...it's magnificent.
Have a great trip!!! Where did you end up deciding to stay???

thanks. Pelican Bend is the one restaurant listed in Zagat, glad to hear you like it. It's been a while since I was in Florida, I forgot that Grouper is the state staple food.

I am afraid that grouper is too expensive to be the state food any longer. Even inexpensive restaurants are charing $24 for grouper. Be careful , sometimes they say grouper on the menu but when you ask it is a relative of grouper. ( a very distant cousin)

Where is Wyles cafe located on Bonita Beach Road. I have never heard of it or seen it, would like to try it.
WE ate at the Havana cafe out past Everglades city on the island . It was good, only open til 3.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm staying at Eagle's Nest on Marco; the last minute exchange is saving me a small fortune.

The address is: 4271 Bonita Beach Road - it's in a little strip mall. I believe my mom said that if you are heading North from downtown Naples, you turn LEFT on Bonita Beach Road. Hope this helps!

                Cheers!

Pelican Bend has great seafood - it is down on Isle of Capri , which is closer to Marco than Naples. Enjoy!!!!!

The Marco Island Marriott consierge may have some good recommendations for the Marco area as well.......

                      Hliw,

Why are saying North Naples for Bonita Beach Road, its Bonita Springs! I know, I live here. Just enjoying a little humor here!

                      RaP,

Wyles Cafe is great for some dinner, always have a lot of people there, its a good place here in Bonita.

Conch man - N. Naples, S. Bonita....it's all just blending together! I haven't eat at Wyles, so I am fuzzy on the location details. I grew up in Aqualane Shores in the heart of Naples, so it's all NORTH to me

OK since the pros are on board.

                            I need recommendations for Sanibel.

Go to CAPTIVA and make reservation at The mucky Duck The Mucky Duck - A Neighborhood Tradition Since 1976 Best sunset view you have seen.

There are also a few great ones on the strip on Sanibel but if you want something different go to the Cow Palace I think thats the name. It is a Moo type of place with a cool theme. Nothing fancy but fun for all.

Here is a picture of me and my wife sitting in there yard waiting for a table.
