We had a room at POP booked for free dining, and then I saw a 1BR sitting in inventory over the same dates so we grabbed it. Then I grabbed a second one, so we hadn't done a request. There are still OKW villas sitting in inventory I think for Sept. as it's an "easy" DVC month. Unfortunately our villas won't be empty at all as we are all staying all 7 nights.

I see---yes, it's hard when you can't get ahead of the curve. II's "one year in advance only" rule sometimes makes this tricky. As for when they can go in: DVC can deposit 10-11 months or so in advance. Combine your January start with searching for a harder size, and that may well explain it.

Originally posted by dvcforusToday we canceled free dining at Pop and grabbed a 1BR at OKW in Sept with an AC. We invited my Mom now so it would be more comfortable to have a second villa which is where the dilemma comes in. I can grab another 1BR, same dates, with another AC I have or put in a request for a studio. If I got a studio, perhaps DVC would let us "join" the rooms into a 2BR when we check in if that's possible, or so I have read on another board. If they can't, then we would rather have another 1BR for $50/wk extra. Any advice? I would like to decide sooner than later to have everything planned out.
If you left four people booked there, the value of the meals would have probably been pretty close to the off-season rental rate. You could have easily fed all five of you with four meal credits. Probably with food left over.
We had the free dining a few years ago before a timeshare week at Summer Bay. We had so many food credits left on the last day for the four of us that we got a ton of carryout and had leftovers for days.

It ends up being cheaper for your food. You don't even have to go ever to your room you get the free dining though. You check in and get your room key which has your dining credits on it.....
