  • Storm damage from Fay to timeshares in Florida...

Please post any new info or updates in this thread about damage to timeshares in Florida from Tropical Storm Fay..

The center of the storm passed through Key West about 3pm today- and as yet there haven't been any reports of damage other than some cases of flooding..

The wind is starting to gust and howl but thankfully SE Florida will be not be getting the brunt of the storm.

Resorts in Key West to reopen this afternoon....

Nothing much to report yet from Key West. Per Hyatt- all their resorts are in the process of opening this morning.. Also- the Galleon reports they will start accepting guests at 11 am today..

Ft Myers, Sanibel, Marco ect most likely won't have any reports until tomorrow.. I talked to the owner of a Bed and Breakfast in Marco and she simply reported slight flooding due to the large amounts of rain- and currently the power is out as a nearby transformer blew- but other than that not really much different from a normal thunderstorm in her opinion... Good news for now!

I'm not concerned. It doesn't appear to be like Charley, et al.

HGVC resorts report no real damage or flooding issues

Tropical Storm Fay Update – August 21, 2008

Hilton Grand Vacations continues to monitor Tropical Storm Fay as it lingers over Florida's Atlantic coastline. Forecasts show the storm moving westerly across north-central Florida over the next couple of days. As Fay made landfall early Tuesday and traversed Florida's midsection, Hilton Grand Vacations resorts sustained only minimal landscape damage.

                  Resort on Cocoa Beach

Per the resort today- no water damage to the villas- minor landscaping issues only- but much of the surrounding area is still dealing with flooding issues..

                    Ocean Landings...

No damage to report to the villas.. Echoed the possible impact on guests with flooding in the surrounding areas.

                        YAY!!!

I just got this as a replacement for our houseboating adventure that will not be, as the St Johns River is far too swollen.

I have to say, RCI was very accomodating - credited exchange fee and got me this resort due to someone else cancelling it.

They credited your exchange fee without their insurance? If yes, that is fantatstic.

YES. I was shocked! Of course, that's what I was going to ask for, thinking that it could take me 10 different calls/reps to get it, but that's what I wanted.

It was almost too easy. No out of pocket to swap to a resort on the beach. Say what you will about RCI, but I like them today!
