Chances of trade into Sanibel/Captiva/Marco?

I have an ongoing search right now, for the last week of June (2009) and the entire month of July. What do you think my chances are in trading into Sanibel, or Capitva or Marco Island?

From when I have been able to read, they look like hard trades. Im trading another Gold Crown week (summer in Myrtle Beach).

Any thoughts on places I should AVOID?

Who are you exchanging with?
What resort do have deposited, what is the check-in date of what you deposited, how far in advance did you deposit it and when did you put in this request?

I wouldn't take this one:

Marco is your best bet with the most resorts, then Sanibel and the needle in the haystack would be Captiva. Summer is far, far, easier than first quarter but not the easiest thing in the world to get either.

If you are with RCI let me know if you can see this one (I KNOW it is outside your date range. I just want a feel for what you can "see" with your deposit):

You'll do just fine...if anything gets deposited. And it should. I think you'll be turning down a few but you should get what you want.
Too bad you can't take that Lighthouse Resort. REAL nice property.

We might just be able to take that lighthouse one, we are trying to get pregnant and everything is planned around that right now.

I live on Marco year round and also own two timeshare weeks here. I have been visiting since the late 80's, so I am VERY familiar!

By all means AVOID this one--

Marco Resort & Club (#1861)

It is a 1 star at best. Basically only a little better than a trailer. No beach and no amenities. Tucked in behind the Snook Inn on the bay. UGLY!

For Marco your best bets are Charter Club, Eagle's Nest, Surf Club or Club Regency. They are all right on the beach and all have excellent programs. All are managed by Hilton Grand Vacations. You will not be disappointed with ANY of them, although the Charter Club generally is the highest rated by vacationers because of the amenities (including free sailcats with lessons on how the sail them).

I would recommend June for the best weather and availability. July and August the Gulf gets very warm and isn't as refreshing.

I have been searching SW FL for January almost every day since RCI.com began, recording the results, and blogging it (see my SW FL in January thread).

I have been going there since the 1970's, basically before I was born , and we planned on living there . . .

I have researched the history of the resorts there and if there is one I don't know about, they snuck it in passed me, perhaps on the lower shelf of the beverage cart.

I agree with everything said thusfar.

Peak season is Snowbird Season, Weeks 1-15 or 16. Summer is a second, lesser peak. I have been searching for FL Resorts on the Beach for Summer, 2009, also, but with a Sleep 8 filter, and there is not much available.

This morning for your dates I am seeing:

A Total of 19 Resorts were found for FLORIDA/FLORIDA: SOUTHWEST

People have different standards, but of those I am seeing, we would settlefor

Bonita Resort & Club (#1680)
Sea Oats Beach Club (#0763)

and, maybe

Lahaina Inn Resort (#0459)
Kahlua Beach Club (#1873)
Island Towers (#0173)

You will be lucky to get anything on Sanibel and it will be virtually impossible to get anything in South Seas on Captiva.

Very. There are 3 or 4 Hilton Grand Vacation Club resorts on Marco Island. I have been in 2 of them. Can't go wrong with the resort and it is beachfront. A keeper.
