  • Speaking of Wastegate . . .

Just to keep fresh in your memory what your money is paying for:

United States of America v. Central Florida Investments, Inc. et al - 6:2009cv00104 - Justia Federal District Court Filings and Dockets

United States of America (for the Federal Trade Commission) v. Central Florida Investments, Inc., a Florida corporation, Westgate Resorts, Ltd., a Florida limited partnership, and CFI Sales & Marketing, L.L.C., a Florida limited liability company, De

For those who do not wish to click and read, the FTC is asking for up to $11,000 for each person Wastegate has called on the telephone since October 17, 2003, provided the phone number called was on the National Do Not Call Registry.

Without making this a political discussion, just stating the facts, as the political climate in the US has recently switched from pro business to pro consumer, you can expect those businesses who have engaged in abusive practices to be called on the carpet. In this case, it did not take long.

They settled with the FTC for a drop in the bucket . . . $900,000 . . . whining, blaming it on the people they called, saying harassing people, violating the law, and paying fines is just the cost of doing business. Pretty much in those words.

Maybe if they start rehiring, you can work for someone who dictates your beliefs:

Might as well get as much as I can all here together, to make it convenient for all you lunch-box people. Before you send in another maintenance fee or go on another tour, here's some must-read:

Another tidbit from the helpful, generous billionaire:

Orlando Sentinel 12-17-2007 - Westgate Resorts Forum

We have been on their tours, from as early as 1989 and as recently as 2007, and never heard from the sales people what Mr. S. claims they say. All we have ever heard is that the timeshares are appreciating, going up in value.

Having jettisoned three weeks, I can vouch for the truthfulness of Wastegate not helping in any way to do that. In fact, as many know, they added a fee to collect more money from you on the way out.

Regarding the OP, violation of the Do Not Call Registry, we receive at least one call per week, always from a person with a thick foreign accent, hispanic or Indian or Nigerian, asking about our timeshares. If they mention one by name, which they do about half the time, it is always Westgate, never any of the others we have owned.

I normally ask them who they are with again, and they hang up. Of course, some feel obligated to be nasty before they hang up. Then I google the number, such as 786-347-6129, and see that others are receiving calls from the same number.

              http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...earch&aq=f&oq=

Then I file a complaint with our State AG. You have to do that by mail, and I just Copy, Paste, and edit a previous complaint letter.

This morning I checked the National Do Not Call Registry, and I registered there also in 2003, so I have a few to catch up on with them.

I just did that, reported to the FTC all that I have reported to the State, and with the FTC you can do that online.

              https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx

Now I am awaiting my $11,000 per call.

Time-share mogul defers building dream home

                Sara K. Clarke

                Sentinel Staff Writer

                February 3, 2009

One of the biggest home-building projects in the nation is on hiatus.

Time-share mogul David Siegel says he has had to slow construction of his estate on Lake Butler in southwest Orange County because of the slumping economy.

"We're using all the money we can raise for our business," he said recently. As for the mega-mansion, "It'll probably be another couple years before it's done."

Siegel first announced plans in 2003 for Versailles, the name he and wife Jacqueline have given their estate. The couple's partially built house, which Siegel now says will total 90,000 square feet, is to contain 15 bedrooms, a full-service spa, an indoor ice-skating rink, two bowling lanes, a palatial ballroom and underground parking for 40 cars. The master suite alone will be 8,000 square feet.

The mansion's roof is on, and the "house looks like a house," Siegel said, but he has temporarily laid off his superintendent of construction. He said he has been waiting on three key items: a shipment of Chinese marble for the exterior and the home's columns, a stained-glass living-room dome, and a large order of doors and windows.

The Chinese marble has finally arrived, his wife said last week. But the windows have proven problematical because even the very rich, it seems, are not immune to problems with building contractors.

Siegel said he's in the midst of a legal battle with a New Jersey company that was paid in advance for the windows. The company never did the work, he said, so he has had to repossess the partially finished windows and pay a Sanford-based company to complete the job.

The amount in dispute ranges from $600,000 to $700,000.

"It's going to cost that much to finish the job that they were paid to do," he said.

                  Oh, poor baby.

He'll probaby be tired of the mansion and the current Mrs. S, by the time the place gets finished.

Wonder if he ever found someone for the 3-some he and his wife are said to have wanted with Dawn Myers?
