I would sign the JLB petition to get BBQ grills at OLCC. I love it when resorts have grills. I was just at Solara Surfside and they have 3 grills that were continuously being used. I loved the smell and the atmosphere it created.

OLCC also has great frozen drink machines. Nope, I don't drink bottled water when I'm there.

I wish they allowed golf cart rentals for driving around the resort (not just on the golf courses) like they do at Fort Wilderness. I'd love to run that business. It would be a solid winner.

Actually, it's not that big of a deal if the resort has a half way decent and modern reservation system. I believe the real problem is that OLCC's reservation system needs a massive overhaul. They always seem to have problems with my reservations.

Bluegreen, as an example, tells you the specific room you book when you reserve it. If you think about it, that's the way it should always be because you have to track it by the room type anyway.

This can become a problem if the resort implements overbooking to ensure high capacity levels.

I don't think it's a sexist issue, but more a matter of self control. I have been known to push the limits, but I know when it is time to back off. As for JLB, he has always conducted himself in a cordial and polite manner, even when under the stress of wild attacks. His civilized manner of dealing with problems can be noted in the "Bubba Country" topic.

I can't help but feeling it is a bit ironic that on a thread discussing how sensitive Orange Lake owners are that someone gets defensive because I asked for a unit near a pool and why didn't I take a trolley a half mile down the road. By the way, when we did check on our visit to the front desk two weeks in advance, we were scheduled for a unit in the East Village, but we were later changed because an Orange Lake owner wanted it. Now I don't want to hear how that is okay, maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but it is one reason why we decided to stay home in March rather than take the Orange Lake trade that was offered.

And then there is the internet. I think you have free emergency services confused with trust. What came first, the lights or the troubles ? Someone should not be so quick to misjudge a situation they are not totally informed of. Of course it's a lot easier to look for things criticise someone you have a grudge against. You have been down this road before- by now you should know enough to read the signs.

Some were hit with the hurricanes after they went back to Florida in October, 2005.

We get along so well here that many have entrusted us with keys to their summer homes in case of emergencies in the winter. Now that's TRUST.

We were the 17the home (out of 21) in this development that was built and I'm sure it would not have gone over well had we tried to come in, take over, put up several bright security lights and change the rules.

Sooo, let me get this straight. I cannot discuss the results of the OLCC survey unless I own there?

If that is the case, why even have reviews of resorts. Let everyone find out about all resorts on their own. Trade there and take your chances.

Me too. When we cook at our timeshare unit at the Maui Sunset in Maui, my BH goes downstairs to the grills but I have to attend to the rest of the dinner. We women have it hard!

When he comes upstairs, he has lots of stories to tell me what other people have experienced that day. It gives a feeling of camaraderie when you are with other vacationers and the same at the the Jacuzzi at night. Most vacationers here seem to be from Canada or from Seattle. This timeshare is not luxurious but it really feels like being at home. We love it even after more than 20 years!

Boca, there is such a business on Catalina Island and it is very popular for the tourists who visit here a day or week-end. You can read more here.

I just had to add a tidbit of information to the thread, JLB.

I keep seeing OLCC for 7,500 points for a week in two-bedroom units in the 45-day window. I was going to suppress that information, but I thought you might get a kick out of it, so I did it for you.

Yup, that, cheap rentals, and exchanges for as little as $200 (I never did quite understand that one) have been discussed at great lengths Over Yonder. But that does now deter the OL-obsessed from defending the $25000 price tag for new units.

(The only new I have ever seen at a timeshare resort were the models.)

I think I am missing something. Is it more expensive to exchange there?

Well, I would be using my points, which are a little less than a penny per point.

so 7500 points at less than 1 cent + $149 exchange fee = about $219 for the entire week at OLCC, two bedroom.

I am not using a week to exchange, only a partial week. My weeks are worth 45,500 points. So I can do about five vacations for the price of one, if it is last minute travel.

I knew you would get a kick out of it JLB!

I am another that took a beating for saying that I thought OLCC wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Especially for complaining about being put out on Lake Kem Way. Talk about a long distance from anything. Anytime my kids wanted to go to the pools, or activity areas, it meant that I had to take them by car.
They are red haired and very fair skinned. Major sunburn alley. Walking in the hot June sun was out of the question.

Well you thought I was the worst kind of human for saying that. The person in question let me have it with both barrels.

I did mention in a review that I wrote, about Lake Kem Way, and a pattern soon emerged about the location. Mostly not real positive.

Their were several other issues but this thread isn't about the problems with OLCC. So I will get back on topic.

My problem with over zealous defenders is that it really doesn't help a place like OLCC to resolve its issues. If a whole lot more people complained, a lot more issue resolving would likely get done.

No one should feel like they can't give their viewpoint without being chastised for it
