I regularly exchange into OLCC for less than $200 including the RCI exchange fee. I am going again later this month. At that rate, it's good for long weekends.

It's probably possible to stay there the entire year for around $1000-1500 per month.

      Tanya/Joel

      Tanya:

Shopgirl explained it. I meant $200 total, including the exchange fee.

      Joel:

I have always found Orange Lake Customer Service to be friendly and responsive. At least they say the words one hopes to hear.

The last contact I had with them was not long ago and was concerning the possibility of adding BBQ grills. They said that management reviewed suggestions and complaints, from any guest , to help formulate future plans/improvements. So if you have something to suggest, go ahead.

      All:

I did not start this to drum up support; I did to see if it was just me or if others feel the same way.

I like to be treated like a real person just as much as the next person. OL was our first tour almost 20 years ago, and was the beginning of our timeshare adventure. We have been back several times since. OL is a big place, but they know me just from my email address. They treat me with respect. They seem to understand that what goes around comes around.

I just don't like it when an apparently-spoiled, doctor's-wife Internet snob does not, whether it's dissing me or dissing someone else.

There, that pretty much says how I feel. I believe others feel the same way.

I feel exactly the same way, JLB.

My very first post about a year ago was an answer to a frequent question, so I have found out shortly after. The question was something like, "Is OLCC going to be a great trade for us?" I answered based on my experience and was chastized beyond belief. The criticism continues to this day, including the last answer to the above question that I posted. I was simply trying to say that I would not choose OLCC as a guarantee for a great unit. She became unglued again and said something about how I never make it a secret that I abhor OLCC. Not true at all. I will definitely grab us one of those 7,500 points weeks very soon and be very pleased with my exchange because I will save a bundle. If they put me back into unit # 2624 on South Magnolia Way, I will be much happier than the last time, when I paid $569 for the week on an exchange.

I didn't abhor OLCC as was said by another individual, but in my less than glowing review I think a 6.5 was all I offered.

There were indeed things that we liked. Pools, putt-putt was great particularly for the money. On site convenience store was very good. Italian restaurant/ pizza shop was OK as well. Many other things that were acceptable.

My feeling is that the major problem with OLCC is that its just too darn big. With as many units and buildings as there are, you can bet that there are going to be quite a few unhappy campers as well as many that think the place is only second to Heaven itself.

If people over yonder can't give an honest evaluation without feeling attacked, then a lot of good info isn't going to be made available to the masses.

Until a year a go I had never encountered negativity concerning OL. In nearly 20 years. That's why I entitled my thread reporting things I saw and heard there, "Where Never is Heard a Discouraging Word!", tongue-in-cheek. Anyone that had followed my previous 7 or 8 years of comments about OL knows how favorable I had always been.

But that thread obviously labeled me an OL-hater among the LOLs (Lovers of Orange Lake). It's easy to get labeled on the Internet and hard to get rid of them.

The bulk of what I post is favorable, or perhaps more irritating to the LOLs, factual and objective.

I don't deny that the snootiness, defensiveness and inconsideration by some OL owners has encouraged others to find more fault with the place than we would otherwise. Needless to say, I read all the OL threads and I am not alone. Plenty of folks post their bad experience Over Yonder and elsewhere. I can see where others make diplomatic little comments to try to give balance.

Do a search and find the last time I mentioned BBQ or hot tubs, for instance. You will see that it has been awhile. Doing that search you see that my posts have run from factual to complimentary. Yet the snootiness and criticism, of me and others, has continued. You will find others making reference to BBQ and hot tubs, with little winky smilies, but not me.

Is that my fault, or do others find this amusing?

The math is simple. Folks say it takes two to tangle. When you remove one of the two and the tangling continues . . . well, there you go.

I thought it took two to tango. LOL.

I often get my shoe laces tangled.

                More

                http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24286

It started out a useful thread, I thought, passing along a piece of information from RCI. Until a snipe, which I didn't see. Then the information was no longer useful.

                  Darn,

Vickie's last post was deleted. I would have loved to read that one. Maybe we ought to encourage people to post their responses here and then post a link to the response on the TUG thread.
