South beach or Key Largo for 2 nights?

I am using Priceline to book 2 nights in Miami. I am arriving on a Friday night very late almost midnight. I need to go to Key west on Sunday so I want something sort of on the way but it has to be real nice because this is part of my 25th anniversary. What area do you all recommend? It does not have to be the 2 area's that I said but I do want something not to far from the airport and it has to be water front and sort of on the way to the Keys.

I think two nights is the perfect amount of time for South Beach, and it would be a good contrast to Key West.
