  • Florida AG has been busy.. Just settled with two more resellers...

Two Palm Beach County timeshare resale businesses have settled claims by the state’s attorney general that they engaged in deceptive and fraudulent sales practices.

Timeshare Travels and World Timeshares led customers to believe their timeshares were being aggressively marketed when, in fact, they were only being posted on a Web site, according to a news release from Bill McCollum’s office.......

The companies have agreed to pay a total of $190,483 in restitution and will reimburse the state for the cost of the investigation.

In addition, World Timeshares will no longer solicit consumers for timeshare resales, and Timeshare Travels must specify how it will market timeshares before any fees are paid.
O.K., If they charge 700 per customer, it means there is about 270 customer will get pay back?

I guess it is kind of they pay the lawyer fee to improve their contract wording and legal document so they can get protect better.

With more and more state short of money, I can see them aggressively work on "Consumer Protection".

    Sorry for the negative tone.

I don't think you should apologize.. I've been around the industry long enough to take these kinds of actions along with a good dose of skepticism. Far too often, the company will simply close down- and then emerge again with a new name and image- but the same flawed business model..

McCollum is rumored to be planning on making a run for governor, so I hope this isn't simply political posturing..

The crooks will just move to another boiler room, come up with another name and start scamming people all over again.

The crooks will just move to another boiler room, come up with another name and start scamming people all over again. Timeshare Travel has been around a long time and will probably continue operating on the edge of the law coming up with some new gimmicks.

Reported settlement of $190,483. in restitution to be paid between the two companies. World Timeshares, Inc. also agreed to no longer solicit customers.

Wonder if any of this money will get back to the individuals, or just goes to the AG for fees?

Just found another article.. Looks like the reported settlement does go back to the customers, and the companies had to pay an additional $50k plus in fees to the AG.. Looks like about 270 individuals will be getting refunds that average around $700.
