  • Orlando Tripadvisor Reviews

The following is the byproduct of a slow, but beautiful, Easter day at the lake.

The following list is the numbers, and percentages, of Tripadvisor reviews for Orlando resorts that rated the resort the lowest possible rating, 1. In other words, the higher on this list the higher the percentage of reviews absolutely hated the place. The lower on the list the better.

The next time I have a slow day, I will do the opposite ranking, the percentage at each resort that gives the highest rating.

    Jim,
What an interesting way to show how numbers can lie!
    Thanks

The only thing I can conclude from this data is that someone needs to create a rating system that formally reviews each resort with the same set of criteria and grades them in several categories using a number scale that can be used for comparison purposes.

I think sometimes groups of people with an adgenda post on TA to make the ratings look really bad or really good....

A lot of them don't understand that they are staying in a T/S with no or very little services compaired to a hotel.

            Definitely agree!
You can tell by reading the reviews they were expecting a full service hotel experience.....

Generally speaking, I find that Tripadvisor reviews are never to be trusted.

Besides constantly having a negative tone to them, they are all over the map. They will vote a hotel #1, when it is a step above a Motel 8. Then they will vote a really nice hotel that I have personally stayed at, and loved a #10, or higher.

I can never figure out the logic, and don't give the site much weight.....

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

                That's a hodgepodge of reactions.

The one I agree with most is Ken's. Some obviously were comparing their stay with hotel stays, since it is, essentially, a hotel and motel rating site, and timeshares are more open to the public than they used to be.

Something I just said Over Yonder, on the same topic thread, is that should open our eyes as timeshare owners to the services we give up when we timeshare.

As to bias, that hadn't entered my mind. In my 8 years on timeshare forums there is no question that there are biases and agenda being served on them. I was actually trying to get away from that, away from the opinion baggage of ownership. I just happened to select Tripadvisor, as a whim.

The Easter bunny made me do it.

Others have said it before, that many of those who do reviews anywhere are either very satisfied or very dissatisfied. That's something people say and I haven't seen anything to validate it. There are a fair share of in-between reviews on Tripadvisor.

Edit: Now that I have compiled the % that gave the highest rating at each resort, it is clear that Tripadvisor is not negatively slanted. There are higher percentages giving the highest rating than there are giving the lowest rating.

I don't believe there is any confusion among those who did reviews as to what a good rating and a bad rating is. I read all the reviews of two of the larger resorts, plus snippets from hundreds of others, and the bad numbers corresponded to bad reviews and the good numbers corresponded to good review.

I guess next we could have a review review!

                Go figure!

If you pay $200 to $400 a day to stay in a 2BR, your expectation will be much higher than you pay $20 to $40 a day to stay in a 2Br. And you will give bad review if it can not meet your expectation. But you probably will find it is great pleasant if you only pay $20 and they are perfect functional, very well maintained, very clean, a good bed, and staff is helpful. If you have a bad weather and you have to stay at the resort all week, and if you have great vacation may also create different review result.

Maybe they paid a lot more than $20 or $40 a nite......they don't know what we know. I've seen T/S rentals for $1500 a week from owners....

Let me take two shots at what I guess you might be asking.

First, each rated resort has a rating which is an average of all the individual ratings. It is expressed in terms of circles, one being the lowest and five being the highest. A resort in the middle would have rating around 2 1/2 circles.

Secondly, when you request to see a resort on Tripadvisor, it opens a start page for the resort. For instance, here is that page for Westgate Vacation Villas:

                          http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...e_Florida.html

On that page it says that WVV is a 3 Star "Hotel". It gives the circle ranking explained above and in this case it is 2 1/2 .

In the uper righthand corner is tells you how WVV ranks compared to other reviewed Hotels in Kissimmee. In this case it says that WVV has a pouplarity index of 92 of 192 hotels. When you click on the Hotels in Kissimme link, it opens a new page and there they are, starting with the #1 most popular.

The most popular timeshare resort, at #2 overall, is Fairfield at Cypress Palms, which is a 4 1/2.

This got more involved than I thought it would!
