    Car Rental-Orlando

I've been trying for Orlando for 2 months now with no success.

Finally, last nite I got accepted for full size for 8 days (7 days +7 hours) for $19/day plus fees.

    All inclusive $229.90.

    Priceline

Yeah, too far for us, too.

I checked to see if things are coming down as it gets closer to travel time.

Strangely, SUVs and minivans are the lowest-priced vehicles on Hotwire and they are around what I already got an SUV for on priceline. Economy cars are much higher.

Our flights are down $20 or $40 per person per leg. Since we paid the trip insurance we can rebook, but the savings will just be a credit good for a year from our original booking date. I'm waiting.

The air fare going has dropped $40 and coming back $60. We bought trip insurance ($30) so we could reschedule with no penalty.

However, there is a $14 booking fee and we would have to buy trip insurance again if we wanted it.

          So . . .

          Allegiant, BTW.

We go when we go because that's when we always have gone and because it is the first after the holidays when plane fares are reasonable.

Frinstance, the fare on the flight coming from FL to pick us up (1/2/09) is now $220. That's the crowd coming home from FL. The fare going back to FL is now $60.

The fare the day we are returning is now $40.

My mother and sister were supposed to fly down here last Sat, Dec 5. , return to chicago Dec 12. they paid $250 for round trip tichets

I got the flu on Friday and they had to cancel. My sister decided to visit my aunts in Arizona, and she paid an additional $600 for the ticket to Tucson from Chicago, in addition to wht she paid originally.

Airfares have dropped $148 since we booked, so I rebooked today. Even with trip insurance, which we did get this time, because of fees our credit is only $68.

We have to use it for another flight sometime before June.

I meant to say I didn't get trip insurance ($30) when I rebooked, and we still only wound up with a $68 credit.

Also, I checked Hotwire for a rental car today and it has gone sky high, like $82/day for an SUV and more for a minivan.

I also was able to confirm our Priceline reservation by calling National.

Hang with it a day or two, I've ordered some heat for you.
You may have to endure some rain though... Not too bad though.

We've had rain today and temps in the mid 30's. That's really close to ice or snow.

But, it's suppose to be in the 70s again Saturday, the day after we fly home.

Not a bad time though . . . eatin' shrimp and the best fresh sweet corn ever, drinkin Bud Light, watchin the playoffs, and a waterview out the sliding door.

And the inside heat is taken care of?

Them shrimp and the best fresh sweet corn you don't get at home this time of year!

Jim, the sweet corn here is nowhere near as good as Wisconsin's. You need to make that trip someday!!!
