Should I join Starwood vacation network?

I own Sheraton Vistana, Falls section, week 9.
Until recently Falls owners had to pay $599.00 to join SVN. They have since waived that rule and now allow Falls owners to join without cost. They are offering this until Oct 2009.
Falls is undergoing a large refurbishment program to bring it up to Gold standard so maybe that is why we can now join.
Does anyone know the pros and cons of this offer ?
