  • Silver Lake or Cypress Palms?

Trying to decide which would be better to book for Orlando.

Same size units at either Silver Lake Resort or Wyndham Cypress Palms?

I've been to Orlando but stayed at Grand Beach that time and loved it but will have to go with a different one next time.

    Anyone?

Oh, I'm new here and hope this question is in the spirit of things. Thanks!

    to TS4Ms Spacecat.

I will move this to the Florida board where you will likely get more responses to your query.

and yes absolutely your questions suits our forums. We are always asking each other about resort recommendations.

It's kind of far off but I am retiring next fall. I'm thinking of Florida for my first post-retirement extended stay.

So I was looking at next September. Does it make a difference between the two resorts as to what time of year I'll be there?

          Thanks

I have only been to CP, I do like that resort.

No, the time does not make difference between these 2 resorts. But it makes difference in your choice. In Sept, it will be the slow month, and some of the good resorts has not yet make their deposit. maybe some of the people doing RCI sighting will want to including you in their list. But I would think you will be able to get some that rank higher than these 2. What deposit you have? And what you plan to do while there? I don't think you paln to spend all the time in Disney, maybe few days to Universal try new Harry Polter's ride? Some golf?

For 2010 Sept, I can see HGVC at international drive at Sept 12, 1 Bd, some Cypress Pointe, Orange Lake, Summer Bay .... I saw Silver Lake, but not Cypress Palm, they usually deposit a little bit later.

Or you just try to use RCI extra Vacation?

I'm going thru RCI and I kind of had it narrowed down to those 2 resorts as the nicest looking for 2 bdrm units of the available ones. But I am open to suggestions of better resorts.

I got about half way thru the WDW stuff back in May but we want to go back to finish that and for more guided trophy size bass fishing and for Sea World etc. Lots of places we didn't get to in the week we were there.

And of course another day or two at the beach...unless we tack on a third week at the coast.

                So what is HGVC?

Hilton Grand Vacations Club on International Drive (#6309) I believe it is more close to Universal Stdio than to Disney, but the deposit I have can only see 1 BD only

For Golf, I believe Orange Lake is better than Cypress Palm and Silver Lake. Since it has its own courses (I believe it has 5).

Summer Bay has its own Lake and some water activities, but no golf course.

I don't know if you will see Bonnet Creek or Not, someone looking in that area maybe able to tell you. It is close to Disney World.

I don't think you will see Disney's deposit. Even if you see it, it maybe very costly to make exchange work.

I think Boca probably can show using BG to beat $249. Wyndham can not. The best Wyndham can do Is close to that but will over a little unless there is PIC invloved, but that will be hugh front load cost. Mine actually will be over $300. Eventually it depends on what the tax RCI ask. So what he has to do trade is important. But at next Sept, OP should still be able to get some good one at Last Call, so it actually favor to just sit and wait and take whatever RCI gives.

But which one is the nicer resort? Cypress Palms or Silver Lake - Has anyone else stayed at either, or both? They both look pretty nice from what I've been able to see on the internet.

How about Kingston Reef and Cypress Point? I've wondered about those two as well since I am usually looking for two bedrooms and they tend to have larger units available.

We don't golf, so that doesn't enter my planning.

Staying at Grand Beach at the end of April was wonderful. The 3 bdrm let us all spread out and enjoy but I think they are just in II now so that's out for me.

I think the point we are trying to make Spacecat is that you don't need to make that decision right now unless you want to.

You can't go wrong with Wyndham IMHO.

I have stayed at Cypress Pointe Phase 1 and was very impressed with the unit (3BR not the 2BR the second bedroom is tiny with a trundle bed) as well as the location.

                          Congratulations on the retirement.

                            Thanks.
I'm not going to book yet. Our favorite conversations right now are all about where to go next fall. We go over and over it and its all good.

Just wanted to get more of an informed opinion of the places. Thanks for your insight on Cypress Point. And I've loved all the Wyndhams that I've been to, well except for Fairfield Bay... And that place was nice. It was just too far from anywhere else.

Have stayed at WYN Cypress Palms many times. It is not a newer resort, but well maintained and comfortable. Many restaurants within walking distance (but we drive, too pooped from park walking!).
Staff there has always been helpful and friendly. Have never had any problems during a stay.
I have noticed availability in September through RCI last call, for the past few years.
