I live in Miami and own 2 weeks on Hollywood beach 1 week in Ft. Lauderdale and an RCI points resort in Kissimmee too.
What I do with my stuff is that I use 1 week in Hollywood which is my week. Then because I own my Kissimme points resort and Hollywood is not a points resort, RCI lets me trade my week for 38,000 points which I turn around and use to exchange back into Hollywood or wherever I want to stay along the east or west coast during the 45 day window when I can get 7000 point exchanges for some decent deals. Many times I exchange back into my home resort with the 7000 points deals. My Hollywood resort has day privileges for owners year round so if I feel like going to the beach it's always an option for me. That way I don't have to schlep my beach chairs and barbecue with us.
It's a great benefit and also includes free parking in an area of very active meter maids. It would be good for you too in Cocoa beach.
Then I alternate my deposit of my Ft. Lauderdale week between II and RCI since it is dual affiliated and so far I think I've gotten better trades with RCI than with II. This coming year I'm going to try the VRI internal exchange since it's also VRI affiliated.
My Orlando RCI points resort is a triennial unit that gives me 24,750 points a year so with that I can get about 3 weeks extra at the beach with the 7000 points deals and have points left over to do something else. With a maintenance fee of only $200 a year it's a great bargain for me. If you have any more questions PM me and I'll see if I can help you.
