I have had a request in with II for a 2BR Marriott in Hawaii for beginning of April 2011 using a strong Marriott trader. Currently the request lists all Hawaii Marriotts, although I am thinking about eliminating Kauai resorts. Yesterday I was playing around in RCI and happened upon a Bay Club Thanksgiving 2011 2BR. I put in on hold but must confirm it by the end of today. I am thinking about confirming the week, buying cancellation insurance from RCI, and then canceling if one of the Marriotts gets confirmed in April. Is that a reasonable plan? Any pitfalls if I end up canceling with RCI?

Apparently the new RCI insurance guarantees u get your trade power back and your week back as if it the trade never happened. I know Glitter canceled a very last minute (days before check-in!) exchange, maybe she will post her experience.
But do u want to go in April or November?
Remember that easter is late April next year so that could make your Marriott trade even tougher.
Keep us posted.

Good question. I think we prefer Thanksgiving in Hawaii since the weather is getting rainy around here by then. Early April is pretty mild. But I have to use up that Marriott week, as it expires the following week. We are thinking now maybe of going to Grande Ocean in Hilton Head the first week in April, or maybe Palm Beach. I personally think if we went to Ko Olina in April and the Big Island in Nov the experiences would be pretty different, but DH is not convinced. I would just have to be lucky with FF miles to pull off two trips to Hawaii in one year.

Bay Club is being refurbished.....who knows how that schedule is going. You may want to look into that."If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."
-- Thomas Jefferson to Col. Yancey, 1816

Originally posted by calgalFrank, it's on the Big Island, but I confirmed it because it is a good quality Hilton affiliated resort, it should be fully refurbished by then, and it's a week my kids have off. I felt happy and excited when I pressed confirm, so that is a good sign.
