  • Ko Olina ... a couple questions:

We were wed in 1960 and got orders to Barbers Point NAS.
Where all that housing is now, between Pearl harbor and Barbers Pt, near Eva Beach, was sugar cane fields. There were no super highways and no tunnels.

We went back 30 years later in 1992... Toured the Big island then Oahu for two weeks. Never did a luau or the Poly Center.

2010 is our 50th year together. We plan on visiting Kauai and Maui, but hate to pass up Oahu... like for old time sake...

I'm thinking it might be neat to stay at Ko Olina, right there near Barbers Pt. Most likely we will never pass this way again.

We would get a rental for a couple days to get a shaved ice on the north shore, tour Honolulu a bit and visit a restaurant in the mountains.

Does Ko Olina have an airport shuttle bus?

How does the luau at Paradise Cove compare with the Poly Center luau?

I have been to Ko Olina several times. I own there and it is a great resort. There is no shuttle bus to the airport at least not to the Marriott Ko Olina property.

I have been to the Paradise Cove and the Poly Center luau. The one at the Poly Center is better, but you have to drive all the way back after it's over. Paradise Cove's is just a short walk back.

We have seen several luau style shows, but not in Hawaii. Dances and fire acts and Hawaiian music and a feed.

So, it's not a true mandatory event... we probably will take a plane ride around each island and do the usual drives.

We mainly wish to hear Hawaiian music all the time and relax. Probably will smile at each other and squeeze hands a lot.

Hopefully we'll meet other TS folk while over there.
