Wow - how sad. That little boy must have been really scared.

One of my fears....I have a 4YO and I have tried to teach her how to call 911on all the phones in the house and at her grandparents for this reason. She even knows if she can't wake somebody up - that she should call 911.

I never thought about vacation and I am heading on vacation with her next month without my husband. Guess it never hurts to teach her how to call the front desk or 911 from a room phone.

        How sad.

I guess this is one of the negatives of TS's and not having maid service daily. I can't imagine a 6 year old going thru this. This is just awful.

How frightened the young boy must have been. That was one of the saddest stories I've heard. shaggy

Very SAD. Wonder what the dad died from. The little boy probably thought dad was still sleeping and he just could not wake him up. Sad very sad.

This is a really good idea. I taught my children how to dial 911 when they were about 3 or 4. But I never thought of the need to be prepared during a vacation.
I do take flashlights and remind everyone to check out emergency exits in case of fire. Now I'll have to make sure everyone knows where the phone is and how to access emergency services.

Yes, teaching the child to call 911 if they can't wake someone up is a must. The man was only 38 years old too. How awful!

I am an EMT and when I do school presentation we teach about when to call 911. This is one of those moments we stress with the little ones. No child should have to go through something like this. This is such an awful time for that poor child.
