View over Maui's Maalaea Bay

In looking though tons of photos of our Hawaiian Islands trip, I was about to delete this shot along with many "what is this" photos.
It dawned on me that others may not have experienced this sight.

We were ending up a clockwise Road-to-Hana tour when suddenly, as we crested a rise, this panoramic came into view.

From high above Kihei we were looking across Maalaea Bay toward Lahaina. The sun was streaming though the clouds and we could see half the way to Oahu.

It's always so windy there-not a lot of people consider it a place to stay but I know a couple who always stays there. They love it-maybe because of pictures like yours.

We were just there last month, went on a snorkeling tour from this bay. Can't wait to go back!

I wondered at the time and a couple times since, "Why is there no road from this point, going down to the shore?" It is many miles over to the airport area and back out to Kihei. Does anyone understand why other then money?
