Why do you think Hawaii Wyndham resorts have so much availability?

I think one reason Wyndham has so much room is because they're still expanding Bali Hai resort on Kauai, along with a few other resorts. We were there earlier this year. We'd made reservations but canceled after another owner said there was a lot of construction and remodeling going on. We stayed elsewhere and just stopped by for a look, and that's what we saw as well. When the construction's done, it will be nice. And much larger, with a new clubhouse and pool.
They also encourage Hawaiian Wyndham owners to reserve a week, then deposit it and trade it through places like TPI or RCI, and offer a bonus week in return.
We stayed at Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort in March. The resort had only two more units open when we arrived. We asked to switch locations because our unit smelled like the carpet had been soaked with beer; they moved us to one of the two units but explained that it had been rotated out of availability to be cleaned and repaired as normal scheduled maintenance; we asked what was wrong, and they said nothing, they were just going to do some painting. We found nothing wrong with that unit and enjoyed a wonderful time.

Let me guess. Too much supply and not enough demand with no option for changing the price.

        First, I meant resort.

Several of them have big number availability and no non-Wyndham ones do. The same resorts did not have that availability before they became Wyndham.

        So, why?

Maybe offering more than owner deposits?

Because airfares to Hawaii have been expensive. I know a lot of families who used to go to Hawaii regularly but can no longer afford 4-5 airfares.

Wyndham just made bulk deposits at KHR and MLV. There might be some developer inventory.

Wyndham still has a disproportionate number on Kauai, 214 of 322 available.

I'm just curious because of the close relationship between Wyndham and RCI.

Because Wyndham controls all the inventories. And if they left at 9 month, they can decide if they want give it to RCI. And where will be a better selling presentation?
