  • Westin Ka'anapali studios vs. Marriott Ko'Olina studios

Has anyone stayed in both who can compare? I know the Marriott won't have the in-room washer and dryer which I am sad about. I am guessing no jetted tub or large walk in shower either?

We have stayed at the Westin in studios twice, one with a corner great balcony and this year with no balcony and a slightly different room arrangement.

We were hoping to get a 1BR at Ko'Olina but didn't want to pass on the studio just in case.

Ive been in both. Ko'Olina is great, but I loved the Westin because of the snorkeling. We also had a great time at the Hard Rock bar. I just like Maui better.

Ko'Olina grounds were wonderful, the man made lagoons were OK for snorkeling but not even close to Maui. I don't find as much to do on Oahu either.

      Ko Olina

Studio is just like a hotel room. It was a tub, micro wave etc. Depends on what ypu want to do. Pearl Harbor and the Missouri are worthwhile trips. The Poly Center is a good trip. The harbor next door which a shuttle will take you (free) has numerous snorkeling trips. There is very little shade on the cove at the beach. Right now there is construction of another building but it is off to the side and out of the way.

I can't comment on the Marriott but here are pics of the studio unit 4404 at the Westin.

From looking at Gordon's pictures I feel that the Westin unit is nicer and larger than the Marriott studios that we have seen and certainly the kitchen area plus it has the washer and dryer.

We stayed at a Marriott studio last year on Maui and I posted some pictures here.

We have seen a Ko'olina studio twice but I don't remember the bathroom arrangement. I know that the DSV I used to have a jetted tub in both bathrooms but that may have changed too as they have refurbished the units.

If you want to snorkel, then the Westin is your resort. People love to walk out the resort and snorkel right in front of them.

Thanks everyone. We took the Ko'olina studio just for a change of pace. We love Maui and know we'll be back the next year to the Westin.
