I am planning a trip to Hawaii for 2007. I am a HGVC member and they have resorts in Honolulu at the HHV or in Waikoloa on the big island. Which Island would be best for a first time visit?
Dale, if this is your first trip to Hawaii, by all means go with HHV. The island of Oahu has most of what you think of when you think of Hawaii. The north shore and the east sides of the island are great areas to explore, and Honolulu and Waikiki along with the memorials in Pearl Harbor are plenty to keep you busy. Save the big island for another trip, and plan on 2 weeks to see some of the wonders that reside there.
Thanks Greg, for you comments. I will loook into the HHV some more. Unfortunately it will be diffcult for us to go 2 for weeks as DW usally cannot take 2 consecutive weeks off.
For first time visitors, Oahu is a must. But it depends on what you want for your vacation. There are two hawaiis, Honolulu(and the surrounding areas) and the other islands.
Honolulu has everthing you'd expect from Hawaii. Wonderful weather, nice beaches, great places to visit, ect.. but it is a big city and crowded.
The other islands have much less to do but for someone wanting to relax, that's a good thing.
