  • Alii Kai Resort, Kauai Hawaii Questions

    We are going to

Alii Kai Resort (#2201) RCI Exchange
    3830 Edward Road
    Princeville, HI 96722
    Kauai, USA

at the end of August, this year.

Is there a building or location we should request?
Where is the closest grocery store?
    How is the pool there?
What is there to do in the immedate area?

Alli Kai is a small complex - haven't stayed there but toured many years ago. I think a few of the units have a peak of the ocean and there is a small pool. They are more like nice condos rather than resort. There is a grocery store in princeville - foodland and it may be a little higher than at the safeway in Kapaa but sometimes convenience is worth it. Try the pizza at the gas station.

We like to go to Kee beach , Tunnels and hanalei bay. also make sure you go to the light house. There are lots of beaches along the north shore and if you haven't gotten the Kauai revealed book, it is worth it.

We stayed here twice and according to Picture Trail it was in 2001 and a year later again.

The first time, we had a beautiful view and the second time we looked out on a parking lot. I can't remember the unit numbers but would call the resort and ask what buildings look out over the ocean or the view we had like here as it was really very nice.

The grocery store wasn't that far away either or I would have remembered it. Kauai is so beautiful and here are some more pictures too. We really enjoyed staying here.

        Small, quiet location

We stayed there in March 2010. Some of the units are privately owned and rented out and some are timeshare owned. The units are nice, but some repairs were needed to our unit. The office told me that updates were to begin that spring. Our unit had a nice ocean view. The pool area is fairly small. The check-in building has information about activities they will have during your stay, as well as information about tours, etc.
The grocery store is a couple of miles down the road in Princeville center, but honestly I'd recommend stopping in a grocery store on the way there, in Lihue or Kapaa, where the selection and prices are better.
There are many things to do in the area. Lots of places to explore, lots of golf courses if you like golf. A couple of miles up the road (near the end of the road) is Hanalei Bay, and the other direction takes you to Kilauea Lighthouse. We took an air tour of the island, which enabled us to see Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of Hawaii) and the NaPali coast. Since you'll be there in August, take a catamaran trip tour or snorkeling trip up the Napali coast. There are also lots of places for zipline trips, rafting, horseback or ATV riding, kayaking or canoeing.

We had a great time and look forward to returning in a couple of years.

We never went near the pool but here is a picture of it. I remember going to an orientation meeting and booked some tours and they were great. The staff was very friendly but we didn't succeed to get a better view unit because they were full.

Sign up for the Maika'i card at Foodland. It will help. I know they have roasted chicken in the front for a very reasonable cost if you need a quick and easy meal.

Will you have kids with you? Anini beach is a great place to take them.
