  • Honolulu to Kauai flights

I am trying to set up a holiday in Hawaii in November. I have located 2 weeks back to back on Kauai but we would also like to initially fly into Honolulu for 2 - 3 days before flying onto Kauai and then fly back into Honolulu for one night prior to flying back to the Buffalo, New York. I have been searching on the net this morning and the cheapest fair I can locate for Honolulu to Kauai return (16th and 30th November) is with Cone Travel @ $138 Per Person. Does anyone know from experience whether that is a pretty standard figure for that inter island flight?

That looks pretty standard to me. Inter-island flights are not the bargain they used to be.

If that's round trip-then yes it's a good fare. Hawaiian Air is running about 74.00 one way for each inter island flight.

Why are you flying back to HNL? Cheaper? FF tickets? Can you fly back home from LIH (Kauai) ?

Only because I thought it would be easier booking flights by doing it that way, rather than flying from Buffalo to Honolulu and then trying to organise the return trip from Kauai. Some of these online travel sites aren't very user friendly when it comes to mixing up the destinations. And typically pricing it single fare usually works out more expensive. One other thought was that Honolulu being the busiest airport in the Hawaiian Islands would have the more competetive prices.

Sorry yes the Honolulu to Kauai was a return ticket and the planning is in it's infancy so nothing is booked as of today but I'll be looking to book the accommodation within the next week or so. I can afford to wait a little longer for the travel arrangements.

When went to the Big Island a couple years ago, I used Cheap Tickets to book my multi-city flights. We flew from Los Angeles to Honolulu where we changed planes and flew to Kona. On the return we flew from Kona to Honolulu stayed a week at Waikiki and then flew back to Los Angeles. I tried several different web sites including the airline site but Cheap Tickets was the only one able to come up with the multi-city flights at a very reasonable fare.

Cheap Hotels, Flights, Airline Tickets, Airfare, Vacations, Rental Car & Cruises at CheapTickets

Select "airfare only" then "multi-city". I am sure they can come up with something for you.

Having just returned from Kauai, I have a few thoughts :
We much preferred Hawaiian Airlines over GoMokulele. Free assigned seating made for a much more pleasant experience.
Also, DiscountHawaiiCarRental.com were excellent. Their quote was less than half of carrentals.com.

                Hawaiian Airlines is great

We flew on Hawaiian last April from LAX to Honolulu. Were able to fly first class for a very reasonable fare 1/3 what the other airlines cost. The service was great.

Thankyou all for the advice, I look to have a pretty stress free weekend approaching so I'll sit down and have a close look at all of the sites you are recommending. I'll also be looking for a car rental as well so I will check that site out.

A few weeks ago I finished booking a similar trip, spending 3 nights on Oahu followed by a week on Kauai then back to Oahu for a night close to the airport before flying home. For the interisland flight, I actually used Orbitz and combined the flight and rental car booking and ended up getting a savings equal to 1 free round trip airfare. Orbitz was the only travel site where I could find booking air and car without a hotel also being required.

With Cheap Tickets, you can book any combination you want including "Air and Car Only". I have always found them to be the best travel site.

As it happens I have just booked the holiday this past weekend but due to RCI availability for the time of year we wanted, I have booked 9 days in Maui (including 2 fill in days at a Best Western) and the 2nd week in Kauai.
My Ohau visit is going to have to take a back seat for another couple of years.
As yet I have not booked any flights but my issue now is a return flight from Maui and Kauai. One way tickets from Buffalo to Maui and then from Kauai back to Buffalo are a non starter based on what I'm being quoted. Actually any one of those one way tickets costing more than a return ticket from Buffalo to Maui (Bloody Crazy).
