  • How do i guarantee Aulani for summer 2016?

Timeshares are all about planning in advance right?

So my daughter mentioned wanting to go to hawaii...And the conversation turned to the new Disney resort and i let it slip that i'd like to take her when she graduates elementary school...Now she's counting the days...I'd like to bring more then just me and my daughter on this trip, either a friend of the family with kids her age, or the grandparents and her mother

Soo, if i needed a 3br at Aulani for the Summer of 2016...How would i guarantee that? And How much would you budget for a trip like that? I'm not a rich man, so from what i can tell i'd need to start saving...today

You could buy Disney points or rent from an owner. I doubt you are going to see any 3 bedrooms for a while. If you need a sure thing then I'd rent.

There is a Marriott next door. You could put your guests there with an ii exchange and just rent a studio for your daughter and yourself and add your guests to your reservation so they got any perks. You could be on Both ressies and enjoy both resorts.

Assuming $10 per point, the cheapest possible night in a 3BR at Aulani is going to cost you $950 as a rental. Yes, per night. And, you might need an Aulani owner to book it during the home resort period, which probably means more than $10 per point.

I would assume that 3BRs at Aulani will be just as uncommon as they are at the other DVC resorts, if not moreso.

          Ok, i'm sad, but i'm sure a 2br with a pullout couch would be fine....Or, would 2 1br's be a better way to go? Maybe a 2br and a 1br?

If its 2016 and she is 6-7, I would focus on the Hawaii part and not on Disney

Take here to Disney in Orlando a few times till then. And for that too, instead of getting a ~$300 5 Five Day tix, get a 10 day no expiration with water parks for ~$500 giving you 10 Park + 10 Water Park = 3 Years of 6 day Disney Trips for $1050.

Three years of Disney in a row for her for one night's cost at Aulani is worth it. Then work on a non-Disney Marriott/Starwood/HGVC Hawaii trip.

I agree that $10 a point from an Aulani owner would be hard to get, it is really expensive.

The Marriott is my backup, all i have in II currently is a EOY SBP 2br...Think i could get the Marriott with that?

It is a GREAT idea to book a small room in Aulani for me and my daughter and a 2br at Marriott for everyone else, i know the grandparents would much prefer the marriott, they hear disney and don't realize that means quality, they just think 'for kids'

Put in an RCI request for Aulani and also for some other DVC resorts. If another one comes through, offer to trade with a DVC owner. They can book your Aulani and you can give them your RCI trade.

I don't own any Sheraton so really couldn't tell you but the trade power but seems that I've seen a few sightings for 2 bedrooms in Ko Olina. Haven't paid attention to if they were seen with Marriott to Marriott preference or not.

How about using Marriott Reward points. You could probably rack up alot between now and when you are going. You can get 70K for opening their credit card and they give you a free night certificate each year. They also give a bonus bucks certificate each year worth around $150 off a 2 night stay. Sometimes people sell their certificates on ebay.

The resorts are right next to each other so I think this would be the cheapest option. Renting DVC points is going to cost you a fortune for even a 2 bedroom. I just did a rental for someone for Alaunai for just 1 night and it was for 49 points for just one night in a standard view room. I doubt anyone will get you that for $10 a point and even if they did it would be $490 for the 2 bedroom for just one night. A studio comes in at only 18 points without a view so about $180 a night. You may even be able to sign up for a Marriott subsidized vacation if you agree to do their TS tour. Disney doesn't do this but maybe Marriott would in Ko Olina.

I don't think you'd need a week at KoOlina anyway. I think you could do much better with just doing a night or two at Alaunai and moving on. There is so much to see in Hawaii and Disney doesn't have the market cornered on nice TS's in Hawaii. There were some really nice Hiltons in RCI recently for 46 TPU's in a 2 bedroom. With that super trader you've got you'd be looking like the big spender staying at Hilton.

I assume your DD is a Disney Channel fan? A few months back they did a lot of Aulani marketing on that channel. All of a sudden my 6 YO started yapping about going there. (Disney marketing....you got to love it). But, as other said, it will cost you dearly and a nearly impossible trade.

It is possible that Disney will start renting units via their website (like they do with Vero and Hilton Head) but still will be costly. But, keep an eye on.

Another option is a Disney Cruise to Hawaii. They don't offer many - but who knows, maybe once she is done with elementary there will be a cruise that fits.

And yes....right now on Disney Channel they are marketing the new fantasy ship. So, if yours is watching, she is going to know all about the cruise line also!!!
