Construction noise at Marriott Maui Ocean Club?

Anyone been there recently? there was an awful review on Tripadvisor complaining about construction noise, am wondering if anyone has had a similar problem as I've been on the lookout for a week there...

You need to stay away from the tower closest to where the construction is but if you face the pool area inside the two buildings or the other wing, you should be OK

It was discussed over yonder recently as I read all the Marriott posts. I talked to a guest at the resort today and they didn't even mention the noise.

PerryM was there this week too so he should know too but I haven't seen him commenting about it at all. I heard today that they have the second or third floor up already (cement shell, I believe).

When we were there in March and early April, it looked like a pile of rubbish as the parking lot was destroyed and the place, where they held the Luau, too. I posted some pictures under Smugmug, if you are interested.

The walkway (boardwalk?) in front of the Marriott and other resorts as well as restaurants and shops, is nice to walk on at night and the beach is very nice too during the day. I like Ka-anapali beach but still prefer the Wailea area as it is not as congested.

Here it is!

It took me a while to find this picture but the name of the wing to stay away from is the Lanai wing suites, especially closer to the front as you will look over the construction site and hear the noise the most, I would guess. The green roofs will be the new towers.

thanks, Emmy. So no construction yet on the Napili Villas on the other side? I saw your smugmug pics, but am more concerned about noise in August than anything. And since Marriott has been less than terrific about honoring requests from exchangers, I am wondering if I should bother switching if I have the chance. I would love to spend one of the weeks in Wailea/Kihei, but the resorts look to be on the quieter side... great for me and DH, but maybe not so great with the kids who like action?

Your kids will prefer the Ka-anapali area as it is a beautiful beach. Wailea is too but you will have to rent a private condo. If I were you, I would call the resort and find out about the noise. I have read that it doesn't bother the units that are facing the pool or are at the other wing. Can you go to the Westin?

We're booked into the Embassy Ka'anapali. I doubt I'll see a flexchange into the Westin, though ya never know. I'd only want move for a 2 bedroom since if we stay put we don't have a moving day. I'm guessing we will just stay put.

You will be on the same nice beach. These two resorts are close together. I wanted to stop by the Whaler and have a look there but we missed it so went to have a look at the Westin instead. Very nice and has great diving too according to daventrina. Black Rock is in between the Westin and the other two resorts.
