We stayed at HHV Lagoon Tower in November. It's still a great place to stay. The only problem is the noise levels between 6 and almost 9 every night. The Luau runs Sunday thru Thursday and if you are on the Lagoon side of the tower it is loud. A couple of nights there were also catered events on the lawn with live entertainment. There is also live music every night in one of the bars. Other than that, we had a great week. The snack bar at the newer pool has sandwiches and drinks and they have discounts on a lot of it at certain times of the day so you could literally spend all day at the pool fairly cheaply if you time it right.
Best Happy Hour food deals we found were at the Yard House, right across the street from Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk and Longhi's at the Ala Moana Mall. You can completely stuff yourself at the Yard House for $5 to $7. Longhi's had some Happy Hour food choices that were different than most other places.
We had dinner at Morimoto's. We went early because it was our last night. 5:45 reservations and we were literally the only people there. They seated us at one of the worst tables in the place, as far away from the view of the harbor that you can get. By the time we left, there were only two other tables seated so it's not like they had a big crowd coming in at 6:00. By the time we figured out that we should complain we were already halfway through our apps so we just chalked it up. The food was good and very pricey.
We also ate at the Ocean House in the Outrigger Reef. It's not as good as it used to be but you can't beat the sunset views.
Somewhere along the way, wifey has become a big turtle fan. We booked a snorkel trip with Waikiki Outrigger thru Tombarefoot to snorkel near a closeby reef where the turtles hang out and it was a blast. Many of our group got up close and personal with the big sea turtles. We came within 10 or 20 feet of a couple of them and she was thrilled.
